Saratoga wedding

Joy was amazing! We planned our wedding from out of state and couldn’t be happier with Joy. We had a phone call with her to go over details and she had a ton of information and ideas. She responded to emails promptly and tweaked our ceremony script however we asked. She was eager to come to our rehearsal and helped us every step of the way. We felt comfortable with her right away. Our ceremony was so personalized and special, I was so emotional. We got so many compliments from our family and friends on how professional and great Joy was. She was a pleasure to work with. She worked great with our wedding party, venue and other vendors. We highly recommend Joy! We are so glad Joy married us.

Reverend Joy helped make our wedding ceremony everything we hoped for!

It was such a pleasure to work with Reverend Joy! The ceremony that she wrote for us described our relationship perfectly and there were so many personal touches that Reverend Joy added to make the ceremony truly unique to us. Thank goodness she sent us the "script" prior to the ceremony because when I read it for the first time, I was so blown away by how she truly knew our relationship and her words really hit home. I was in tears because it was so beautiful. Our ceremony was my favorite part of our wedding day and it was because of everything Reverend Joy did to understand our relationship, our feelings of being so lucky to have found each other and little touches like the candle lighting for our mothers and the tree blessing ceremony. I cannot recommend Reverend Joy enough!

Professional and lovely officiant

Joy was wonderful to work with! During our first meeting we had in depth conversations to get to know one another. She followed up with a questionnaire for each of us to fill out to detail how we met, our feelings for one another, values, goals, and timeline of our relationship’s growth. From there she compiled a beautiful ceremony which she emailed to us for review a couple weeks before our big date. Joy ran our rehearsal professionally and our wedding ceremony was elegant and ran smoothly as planned. Joy was excellent in communicating, directing, and being supportive the day of! Thank you for being such an instrumental part of our wedding day!

Grateful for a beautiful ceremony

We had to have a very limited gathering due to COVID and were so delighted with the lovely words that Joy shared. Even though it was a small gathering, Joy still made it special with her thoughtful and insightful message about love, kindness, and companionship. This ceremony was in addition to the one we have had to postpone and we are so looking forward to the message that Joy will share with us and our friends and family at our next, post-COVID marriage celebration.

Beautiful day... Beautiful words

Reverend Joy Burke helped make our wedding ceremony so special. Her kind, thoughtful words and overall pleasant demeanor let us know right away we had made the right choice. We live outside of the Saratoga, closer to NYC and decided to cancel our original plans and have a private wedding ceremony in a place we frequent and love to visit annually. Despite the fact we did not have familiarity with vendors from the area, Reverend Joy was highly recommended and we can easily understand why! She was easy to work with, was quick to respond and provided us with the words in which solidified our union and warmed our hearts on our most special day. We would recommend her without reservation!

Beautiful Ceremony

My husband and I planned our wedding in 4 days. I found Joy online after we got our marriage license and she had availability on the Friday we wanted. She welcomed our son and us into her home and performed the most beautiful, special ceremony. Afterwards she brought out her sweet dogs Penny and Hannah, whom our son absolutely adored! Wonderful Officiant!

I found Joy on Wedding Wire for our October 5th 2019 wedding. I reached out to Joy about 2 years prior, wanting to lock her in based on amazing reviews. Right away, she was so pleasant and beyond helpful with the whole process. She has amazing examples of vows, readings, etc to help you create your own special ceremony and vows.

I grew up in Saratoga Springs, but live in Virginia now. Despite not being close, Joy was available by phone whenever needed, and when my husband and I went up to NY for vacation, we stopped by her wonderful home to touch base a few months before.

We had some characters in our wedding party (mainly, the groomsmen :P) and Joy THANKFULLY kept them in line haha! As the bride I had enough to worry about.

Our ceremony was magical. Afterwards, I had numerous people come up to me asking about Joy and how they were blown away by her readings, presence, and how she contributed to making that moment so special for us.

Joy is a bit pricier than some other officiants that I have seen, or compared with other brides. But she is so worth it, and you will not be disappointed!

Joy is amazing! She knows exactly how to capture a one of a kind ceremony that is perfectly tailored to the couple. A superb experience

Joy was superb from beginning to end. I only wish I had the chance to have worked more closely with her - and that is our fault, not hers. Our very busy work schedules made it difficult to do so, and the fact that Joy understood and accommodated our schedules and availability only endeared her to me more. I found her so kind, helpful and most of all, wise as we needed to make some difficult last minute adjustments because of family demands. She handled the request, on our wedding day, with such aplomb that I will forever be grateful to her. She enhanced our wedding in such a meaningful way - Joy, your first name says it all!!

Joy is a must have for your wedding. She knows what she is doing and will make your ceremony personable and memorable. Joy wrote a 30 minute ceremony for us that took our guest through our journey in a tasteful yet funny and touching way. There were many tears! She also offers many options for special rituals that are optional, but there are so many great ideas you’ll be sure to pick one. She also gives lots of excerpts to pick from for family or friends to read at your ceremony. We had to fill out a questionnaire which was a great way to reflect on your love and helps her develop her speech. Joy also met with us for over an hour and never once did we feel pressure to hire her. We even got to meet her two dogs . What I appreciated most was her flexibility and assertiveness. She took many of our ideas but offered her suggestions and insight on what would work best. Never being married before, I really valued her advice and it made everything seamless. Lastly , she does do rehearsal practice as part of the package so long as your date is available.

My husband and I got married on June 26, 2018. Our wedding officiant was Rev Joy Burke. Rev Joy was absolutely AMAZING in every way! Rev Joy really got a feel for us as a couple and captured the essence of our love for one another and created the most beautiful and poignant ceremony. As two very spiritual people, my husband and I really wanted God and our spirituality to be the basis for our wedding ceremony. Rev Joy brought God to the forefront of our ceremony. She also gave us creative options to bring to the ceremony in terms of readings and a Celtic hand fasting component! Our ceremony had us and all of our guests crying one moment and laughing the next. My husband and I were so beyond happy with our wedding ceremony! Rev Joy surpassed everything we hoped for and all of our family and friends that day and throughout the Summer have commented on what a beautiful, unique and moving wedding ceremony it was! In fact, so many of our guests said it was the best ceremony and wedding they had been to! This only allows us to give 5 stars but we’d give Rev Joy 10 stars! She is lovely and will give you the most magnificent wedding ceremony. We highly recommend her! Thank you Rev Joy!!!

Finding the perfect officiant was so important to my (now) husband and I, and when we found out that we were expecting and would be moving our wedding date up by 6 months, we were so afraid that our rushed planning would lead to us not finding the perfect person. BUT when we first talked to Joy over the phone all of our worry disappeared. Joy is everything we always wanted in an officiant; kind, relaxed, confident, reassuring, organized, knowledgeable. The whole ceremony planning process was wonderfully easy on our end, and the end result was an absolutely lovely ceremony. Joy made sure to accommodate for all of our needs and requests, making the ceremony personal and perfect. Our family and friends are still reaching out to us about how beautiful it was.

My new husband and I are so glad that we found Joy and that she was the officiant at our wedding! Neither of us had attended many weddings, so we were unsure what we wanted our ceremony to look like. We didn’t even agree on how to say our vows! Joy had many great ideas, was very responsive when I emailed questions, and she created our dream ceremony! She flawlessly weaved scripture, stories about my husband and I, and blessings into our ceremony. I had many guests comment about how unique and meaningful the ceremony was. Thank you Joy!

If we could rank her higher than 5/5, we would. Joy was a true blessing on our wedding day. I wanted to have a friend marry us, but my fiance (now husband, yay!) wanted to hire a professional. Since meeting Joy at our initial meeting I think I have thanked him every day for his decision and persistence. I even thanked him and said "YOU WERE SO RIGHT" while walking up the aisle immediately after getting married, while our wedding party was still standing up there. That's how good she is. Truly... Worth every penny, and then some. Her sense of professionalism and knowledge of just the way things should go was truly priceless. I felt as though at the beginning of our rehearsal, between my family, my husband's family and all of our (bossy) friends plus our wedding planner, it was like herding cats. Joy immediately stepped up with much appreciated authority and knowledge and provided us with the guidance and direction we needed. My father and i learn by doing, therefore we asked 100 questions and requested to keep rehearsing and practicing even the smallest things. She was never frustrated with us and always reassured us through an emotional (and stressful at times) process! J\And don't even get me started on the ceremony she wrote us! I tear up just thinking about it. She puts so much thought, emotion, care and attention into everything she does. Your ceremony is so uniquely yours, it's such a gift! oy Burke is the real deal. She is such a gem, and I am truly so beyond grateful that she was there to provide her love, guidance and support on our special day.

Our ceremony was the absolute highlight of our wedding day. So many of our guests commented that it was the most beautiful and personal ceremony they had ever attended. All of this is thanks to Joy. She really took the time to get to know us as a couple, and crafted and delivered such meaningful words. She was professional, prompt, and truly cared about making everything perfect. We're so happy we chose to work with Joy, and will always be grateful to her for making the most important part of our wedding day so deeply special and memorable.

Choosing Joy for our elopement made our day so special. She welcomed us into her beautiful parlor and preformed one of the most meaningful ceremonies I have ever heard. Through the tears and laughter we became one. I can not thank Joy enough for making our day special; from helping my mother to surprise us with flowers and a photographer to giving us a ceremony to remember. Reverend Joy was an absolute credit to her name. We had always wanted to get married in a small private ceremony, but we really wanted everything to be special. Joy was wonderful!! We wanted a small ceremony with just our parents there. So Joy invited us into her home and it was a moment that was intimate and meaningful and one that we will cherish forever! Even the moments leading up to it she was checking in with us to see if we needed anything and was always able to give us great suggestions and support! Our pictures came our beautiful! We may have a bigger celebration in the future and plan on asking her to carry out the ceremony!

Although I am a christian woman, my husband to be was not as religious and wanted a more intimate service then a church service. Through various internet searches we came across many officiants. For some reason, Rev Joy Burke stood out and we gave her a call. After a few calls and emails, we knew she was the one to marry us and she officiated a lovely ceremony for us. We live in Philadelphia and wanted a Saratoga wedding; she directed us in the process for NY state and made great recommendations for beautiful venues.
On our big day, all our guests were inspired by her insight on love, marriage , trust and the life long commitment we were making with each other. I would recommend Rev Joy over any officiant in the NY area and even if I was out of state, we would fly her in! She is just a genuine and caring person who's main goal is to make sure your wedding day and ceremony is one to remember.

Our ceremony was amazing!! Joy is so professional and made it incredibly easy to construct a creative and tailored ceremony with all of the elements we were looking for. I've gone too other weddings where the officiant was ill-prepared and caused the bride and groom more stress. This was NOT the case with Joy! She had printed the readings and vows, delegated our very large wedding party, and had a very calming sense of experience about her. Through out the wedding planning process she was readily available to answer any and all questions. I can't explain how helpful she was. We had a lot of requests(i.e. non-religious with Catholic elements, musical interlude) and she appeased all of them. I highly recommend Joy Burke to be your officiant!

My husband and I were married by Joy on 9/16/16. She was recommended to us by our Wedding Venue and was at the top of their list as one of their favorite vendors (not surprisingly!). The minute we walked out of our first meeting with Joy we knew she was the one. She was kind, professional, and so excited to learn about us as individuals and as a couple. Joy worked with us to make our wedding ceremony unique and personal to us. She was able to incorporate the most important and meaningful aspects of our relationship into it. She had people laughing, crying, and enjoying every second (and how often does that happen?!). Our ceremony turned out to be the most beautiful and most memorable part of our entire wedding day, as it should be! If you are looking to have a flawless ceremony that is one of a kind, Reverend Joy Burke is the officiant for you.

She helped us plan our ceremony and gave us several different suggestions to help make our ceremony us. Joy is passionate about her work and so pleasing to be around. We wanted a fun ceremony that was able to pull in aspects of the Catholic religion and Joy definitely delivered a perfect product. Many of our guests mentioned our ceremony was the best one they have been to.

Besides being a great officiant, Joy is the type of person you want to stay in touch with. She is a warm individual and you feel so relaxed in her company. Your relationship does not end on your wedding day like some others might. We truly love Joy and cannot have asked for a better officiant. Thank you, Joy!

Our wedding day was made even more special simply having made the choice to have Joy officiate. She is a wonderful human being, and the ceremony that she wrote for us was nothing short of phenomenal. We were positive we had made the right decision about Joy the first day we met her, months before the wedding. When my husband and I decided that we were not going to married in a church, I felt a huge pressure placed on my shoulders to find a Wedding officiant that would accept our values and beliefs. While sitting outside at breakfast in Saratoga, I searched for wedding officiants and Joy was the first name on the list. I continued our search and read the reviews, but each couple had such beautiful comments about Reverend Joy Burke. I sent an e-mail to Joy and within an hour she responded that our date was open and wanted to meet us. We met Joy ( & Penelope and Hannah :) ) at her house a week later and felt so comfortable! She assured that our ceremony would be exactly what we wanted by making our story come alive. Joy truly spends the time to get to know each individual before creating the reading. Jay and I knew we truly had chosen the correct wedding officiant to make our ceremony exactly what we wanted! On the day of our wedding, our guests could not stop talking about how beautiful the reading was and how they have never been to a ceremony built with such love and emotion! We are so happy we hired Joy as our officiant! The ceremony she customized for us captured our relationship perfectly and allowed us to incorporate unique elements into our wedding day. Our family and friends loved it and said it was one of the most special ceremonies they'd ever witnessed.

In the months leading up to our big day, she offered some fantastic advice that greatly impacted our day for the better! We were both so relaxed and at ease, which allowed us to truly enjoy every minute of our wedding day.

I wanted to do a first look from the very beginning, but my husband was very much against the idea. We shared this with Joy and she kindly shared her thoughts, which ultimately helped my husband warm up to the idea. Thanks to Joy, we decided to do a first look. Because of this, my husband and I spent a lot more time together on our wedding day and then at our reception with our guests. The whole day would have been very different had we not done the first look.

Everything about our wedding was better than I imagined it could be. Each and every one of our vendors was so professional, kind, and responsive, which left nothing for me to worry about!

Joy was an absolute pleasure to work with from the moment that we booked her. My now husband is Jewish and I am Catholic, so we wanted an interfaith ceremony that wasn't so much about religion but more about love. Joy surely delivered. She wrote the most beautiful ceremony that was personal to US as a couple, but included traditions from both sides (tying of the knot and glass smash). Joy had us answer a lot of questions about ourselves separately and wrote her script based of that. We also had meetings with her beforehand.

Before our wedding day (about a month before), Joy sent us the script for our wedding for approval. We were really blown away. Needless to say, guests were blown away and we kept getting compliments about how beautiful and personal our ceremony was. The ceremony was the perfect length, it lasted no more than a half hour, and again, it was all about the love that we had for each other. Many people said that they wanted to get married again just to have Joy do their ceremony, ha! Joy also gave us the idea of "tying the knot" during our ceremony. I've never seen it done before, and neither did our guests, and they loved it. The most important part of the wedding is the ceremony and Joy is worth it.

Thank you so much Joy for your attention to detail and making our wedding day so special. And now we have a new friend of it. I surely hope to keep in touch.

On our wedding day after the ceremony I can't even count how many people came up to my husband and I to tell us how amazing, beautiful and unique our ceremony was. Joy customizes the entire ceremony to fit who you are as a couple. I wanted to incorporate pieces of religion into our ceremony while still keeping the focus on us and our love - Joy did that exactly. It was the most gorgeous ceremony. What drew us to Joy was her personalization of our big day. From the first phone call, she stood out from other officiants because she took time to get to know us. She sent us each a questionnaire about ourselves and the evolution of our relationship in advance. On the day, she used our answers to create a personalized, touching ceremony, adding a little humor at just the right moments.

She planned out every detail so we had absolutely nothing to worry about when the day finally came. She made sure that that the important people felt important and knew where they needed to be.

The day after the wedding, she went above and beyond and met us early in the morning so that we could pick up our marriage certificate. It was snowing and she still made the 40+ minute drive so that we could go home, certificate in hand.

Joy gave us a memorable, beautiful ceremony, full of the character that defines us and our life together. We absolutely made the right choice and would recommend her to anyone who wants a personalized, inclusive and stress-free wedding day.

With a week notice before the wedding, Joy put up with us in the best way as possible! She was amazing during the rush process and the ceremony itself was unbelievable. Reverend Joy was everything we could have asked for in an officiant and then some! She took the time to meet with us and get to know us on a personal level. This enabled her to create an absolutely beautiful custom made ceremony that really spoke to us personally and as a couple. She truly cares about her couples and will do whatever it takes to make sure you are more than satisfied with the finished product. She will go above and beyond to ensure your special day is perfect even beyond the ceremony. She made herself available to us anytime for any for everything from general questions to recommendations on vendors. It was a great relief knowing that we had someone with so much experience in the wedding industry to fall back on if we needed some support. Joy was fantastic! She made our day so special and personal. Our families were blown away by how personalized the ceremony was. They had originally been skeptical about us not doing a church wedding but after seeing what Joy prepared they completely changed their minds. My wife and I were married in June 2015 in Saratoga Springs, NY. Joy was recommended by Saratoga National and we couldn't be happier with Joy officiating our wedding! I am Jewish and my wife Catholic and we had a general blank canvas for how we wanted to approach our wedding ceremony. But we knew we wanted it to incorporate some of our religious traditions, without the ceremony being religious and also have our dog take part. Joy helped us craft the perfect ceremony, incorporating a psalm from the Bible that had importance to my wife's family as well breaking the glass and speaking about the meaning of the Chuppah from Jewish traditions. She even helped us discover new traditions from other cultures to involve in the ceremony, like hand fasting from Celtic traditions. She has a ton of good ideas to vet with her. Joy was warm, passionate, kind, and fun to work with. She invited us into her beautiful home several times to get to know us better and discuss the ceremony. She also got to meet our dog and we met hers. She treated Cooper as one of her own and made sure he was going to be comfortable and a star in the ceremony. Our ceremony was wonderful, flawless and memorable. We will never forget how special Joy made our wedding ceremony and our guests are still raving about it! We highly recommend Joy to any and all!

My husband and I got married on Friday October 30,2015 and Joy performed the most amazing ceremony for us. She took the time to get to know about us, our relationship, our values and plans for our future together and she put it together to create the most amazing ceremony for us. We wanted a way to remember our loved ones who passed away during our ceremony as well and Joy made it happen in the most beautiful way. All of our guests loved the knot tying, the had never seen anything like it before. The entire ceremony was a dream come true, it was everything my husband and I could have ever dreamed of. Our guests loved the ceremony and so did we. Joy was the best and I would recommend her to anyone looking for a wedding officiant!

When we look back at those things that most made our wedding memorable and meaningful to us, Rev. Joy is at the center of them all. For us as a couple, Rev. Joy spent a great deal of time getting to know us so that she could put together the perfect ceremony that reflected us in every way. With her, it didn’t feel like we were working on another wedding detail. Rather, it felt like we were getting to know a new, lifelong friend. From that, Rev. Joy put together a ceremony that captured exactly what we envisioned, and much more. She was open and honest with us about her advice, and completely open to considering everything that we envisioned. For our guests who were there to support us, we are continuing to hear how much they enjoyed our ceremony and that Rev. Joy’s message was one of the best they had ever heard. Reverend Joy Burke is a genuine and warm-hearted person and that shows through in the wedding ceremonies she so beautifully crafts. My husband and I couldn't be more pleased with the ceremony that Joy put together for us. She has a vast array of resources for couples to use in planning the perfect ceremony. From these, we were able to choose readings that truly reflected us and were personal to us as a couple. My husband's family is very religious, however we don't practice one faith and consider ourselves to be spiritual. Both my family and my husband's family remarked that they felt the ceremony Joy put together had the perfect amount of spiritual tones while still representing us perfectly as a couple. She was also able to work with us to include our dogs in the ceremony and made note of what an important role they play in our lives. She was easy to work with and very responsive to any questions or concerns. We felt like our ceremony was written by someone who had known us for years. Our loved ones are still talking about what a beautiful and touching ceremony we had thanks to her hard work. Joy is amazing. She loves marrying people and it shows in her well crafted ceremonies. When we were searching for an officiant on short notice for our small intimate wedding, I found Joy and there was just something that made me want to contact her. I am so happy I did because she worked with us and our short timeline to craft a personalized ceremony. We left the entire ceremony in her hands and she delivered a beautiful ceremony. Our favorite part was when she passed the rings around our guests to bless the rings. She put so much thought into our day and helped it run smoothly. We received so many compliments about Joy. Joy was such an amazing officiant! My wife and I are a same-sex couple and we were so happy to find someone who sees love as love. Joy was an absolute pleasure to work with. Living 8 hours away from Saratoga, we first met via a phone call. We chatted for a good 30-40 minutes on our first phone call and then communicated via e-mail up until our first real life meeting. I was able to visit her at her house about 3 months prior to our wedding and she was everything I imagined and more. Growing up, my family was pretty low-key when it came to religion and church. My grandmother and husband's family was super Catholic. I was nervous about finding someone who would create a ceremony that would not be too religious and make me un-comfortable but still keep enough religious affiliation to keep the Catholic side of the family at happy. Joy did an amazing job creating our ceremony and I had numerous people (including my grandmother and his parents) approach me after the ceremony and say how beautiful and touching it was. Many guests said they have been to many weddings but have never "felt" a ceremony like ours. It was truly an amazing day.

Reverend Joy Burke came highly recommended by The Sagamore Resort as well as many other local wedding vendors. We are so thrilled that we chose Joy to officiate our ceremony. She helped us with all the logistics such as getting our license and the timing of our ceremony itself. She has poise, grace and is incredibly sweet. Joy went above and beyond to make our ceremony perfect. She gave us plenty of options to include in our ceremony. A poem, Irish Blessing, and a good luck penny activity were just a few of the personal touches included in our ceremony. Joy took the time to get to know my husband and me. We knew we wanted Joy Burke to officiate our ceremony from the minute we met her. Besides that fact that she has the cutest Boston Terriers ;-) Joy was so helpful and really understood what we were looking for. Every communication/meeting we had with Joy was fantastic, and she always seemed to know exactly what our next question would be. The day of our wedding (I know I'm biased because it was our wedding BUT....) Joy gave the most beautiful ceremony I have ever heard. We decided to go with the ancient Celtic inspired hand fasting ceremony and it truly was BEAUTIFUL! Joy created a beautiful, personalized ceremony with information gathered from speaking with us and from a simple questionnaire we were asked to fill out with details about us and our relationship. It was unique from any ceremony that I or many of my friends have attended in the past. Prior to creating the ceremony, Joy provided us with many sample vows, readings, and is knowledgable about many different wedding rituals to offer something to fit pretty much anyone and their relationship. Joy was perfect in every way. From start to finish, she really did care about us personally and it showed.
