your guests staying in same hotel as your weddnight night suite? opinions?

Ab, on November 8, 2010 at 1:31 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 24

Hey ladies!

So I searched for this topic in the engine but couldn't exactly find what I was looking for here goes..

I'm trying to decide whether or not FH and I would go to a diff hotel as the reception/where guests would be staying, I wanted your thoughts/experiences. I realize there are pros and cons

pro- you can hang out with them more after the reception ends (although I imagine wanting more alone time with FH that night; you can easily have breakfast with them the next morning if you want; it's just easier

cons--this is teh main thing i was wondering; like do you think there would be awkwardness, what if the rooms are close to one another; or like you get a :wink wink nudge nudge: from someone the morning after LOL..I would like to think everyone would be mature enough..or I may feel pressure that I put on myself to stay up later with those good friends I haven't seen in a long time.

thoughts?? (also i don't anticipate any guest drama, so thats not a factor)

Stay where the wedding is. You save on transportation and it is just more convenient. Unless your guests are high-schoolers, there will be no awkward moments.

I like the idea of staying in the same hotel but in the honeymoon suite or presidental suite. I don't see any cons as the room is usually a distance from the regular suites. The hotel where we are staying along with the out of town guests and bridal party has a shuttle service that will pick and drop ppl off @ the venue which is right up the road. The suite has two rooms a living and kitchen area in which I will stay in one room and FH will stay in the other the night b4 the wedding. The night of we will stay in the master suite 2gether.

We stayed in the same hotel and have no problems. It was nice to see everyone the next morning. It was mainly my family and college friends since his entire family lived in the area and mine were all 2 to 12 hours from home. Nothing was awkward. I'm with Analy that unless they are high schoolers and rather immature there will be no awkward moments.

As Ms. Boop said, it's highly unlikely that a honeymoon suite or other nice suite will be close to your guests' rooms. Go with the same hotel.

Well, I would want to be in a different one persoanlly, but then our reception isnt at a hotel and we arent planning on sticking around the next morning to say hi to people-were heading straight to the honeymoon.

So, if those things were different, for convenience sake it might be nice.

I would definitely try to get a room on a different floor/wing from where the other guests were staying. itd be nice for peace of mind and privacy knowing that your great aunt mildred is 3 floors away rather than across the hall from you.

The only other reason I would worry is if you have anyone who might try to prank your room or something

Thanks gals! No I won't have any high schoolers really, and helloooo people know its your wedding night and will likely be more than understanding when we duck out after the reception..I was just being paranoid :-)

I agree with everyone. I want to stay at the same hotel so I can see everyone as much as possible. Some of my family and friends from grad school live far, so I don't get to see them often. My FH feels funny about it though and thinks we should stay somewhere else.

FH and I will be staying at a different hotel for two reasons. One, I also felt it was akward to spend our wedding night in the same hotel. What if my MOH got a room next to mine? No! Hehehe! Second, even though the hotel is by the beach, the rooms are not to spend your wedding night. They are a little old style looking so FH booked a different hotel. He says it's a surprise and that it's one of the best hotels in Miami! Exciting! I would get a diff hotel if I were you. I think it's exciting to leave from the reception and guests are left wondering where you and the groom are going. Smiley winking

Everyone attending the wedding is staying at the same venue as the wedding. The party begins on Friday night with a Welcome dinner, and ends when I pass out on my wedding night....only kidding.

Having your wedding at a Bed and Breakfast provides limited options in terms of room placement. We will be right next to our BM and MOH. But my parents and kids will be in another wing.

I fully expect to be pranked, but I am one step ahead. I plan on having a blow up doll waiting for the pranksters.

I dont think it should matter if you get nudges or winks from people-#1: they will be the immature ones #2: WHO CARES!! Its your wedding night!

We plan on staying in the same hotel as some of our guests (some may choose the alternate hotel offered) but in the honeymoon suite. Plus it'll be great to spend the next morning having brunch w/ everyone & talking about all the fun the night before.

I personally have no desire to stay in the same hotel with my guests. Its stupid- but to me, the weddin gnight is the start of the honeymoon. I want to be alone with FH! I don't want to risk running into anyone in the lobby, or at breakfast. I don't want to feel obligated to get up early and meet everyone for breakfast in the hotel's restaurant. I want to be able to turn off our phones and be alone!

I know my family... my sisters will call at 8am the day after and want to meet for breakfast or pedicures or something. I don't want that to be a possibility!

I don't even want them to know what hotel we'll be in! But it's not a problem- because I won't even know what hotel we'll be in until we get there... FH says it's a suprise. What that really means is he has no idea yet...

We're staying in the same hotel, but our room will be separate from the block we will reserve for the guests. This way we can have a little after-party after the reception, go our super-separate ways (no wink wink, nudge nudge moments, haha), and then maybe see our guests the next morning.

Our venue is at a hotel so everyone will be there and we'll be in the suite. They're on different floors. We might have a farewell breakfast because a LOT of guests are OOT

We're staying at the hotel where the reception is, as well as our other guests. Our room will be in a different part of the hotel than the rest of our guest though. I think it's great that we don't have to drive anywhere after.

We are in an even BETTER situation! How about staying the same HOUSE on your wedding night? We reserved a guest house that has 5 bedrooms for our bridal party for the night of our wedding. We are still debating on whether to stay there or go to a bed and breakfast across the highway. IMO I would like to stay at the house in case we are all too exhausted/drunk to drive to another place for the night. Besides, Im thinking we will pass out from sheer exhaustion instead of the other fun stuff. We can do that when we come home the following morning. IDK....I figure some of our guests are coming in from a long distance, so I would rather spend as much time with them together.

We stayed in the same hotel as the guests. I blocked out about 30 rooms for out of town guests. Our suite was absolutely great and we were away from everyone else. Besides, you should be able to get your suite for free if you stay at the same hotel as the guests. I am helping my friend with her wedding this December and when I blocked the rooms for her, the hotel told me that if 10 or more guests stay, the Bride & Groom would get a suite with champaigne and strawberries for free.

We rented a house with several different units for all our wedding guests. We stayed in one of the units, and other guests stayed elsewhere in the same house. It worked out fine.

We're staying in the same hotel, we were thinking of the same concerns though......all should be good unless Grandma is in the room next to you!
