Will your parents match the wedding party?

Sam, on November 1, 2018 at 2:05 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 16

What are your parents planning on wearing for the wedding? Are you asking them to match or coordinate with your wedding party? Or are they choosing their own attire? Will your parents match the wedding party?

I want the parents to coordinate with the wedding party. I want the fathers in tuxes which they can accessorize with any shade of blue (except the wedding party colour) ties/vests. Before I decided to have the parents coordinate with the wedding party my mom already said she had her eye on a navy blue dress so that worked out and my FMIL has picked out a nice sapphire coloured dress. I just thought that it would look nice in pictures to have coordinating colours and it also makes the parents stand out more as important figures.

Yes, our parents decided they wanted to wear colors in the same "family" as the wedding colors so we all looked put together! I'm excited!

Hi Caitie-lyn! That sounds lovely! You have some really nice colors planned and it seems like everyone was already on board before the planning, which is great! I can't wait to see how it all comes together! Smiley smile

Unless they want to, there is no reason for parents to match anyone else. They are free to wear whatever they want. Please don't encourage people to be rude to their parents.

I asked them to coordinate for picture purposes as I really would like one big family picture to frame and I didn’t want it to be all sorts of discombobulated. I did, however, let them know it wasn’t required.

Mine coordinated, but didn't match. We had purple, royal blue and turquoise as our colors, and both my mom and step mom ended up picking dresses that were a midnight blue. My mother in law wore a deep burgundy purple pants suit. They all picked their own outfits. And even without trying, they ended up coordinating really well! Both my dad and father in law wore charcoal grey suits - coordinating with the groomsmen.

Nope I’m letting them wear whatever they want. I want them to be comfortable and wouldn’t dream of telling my parents what they can and can’t wear anyway.

My dad is wearing the same as the groomsmen by his choice. He didn't want to stand out as different. My fmil is wearing whatever she wants because it will be ssssssooooooo much easier. MY mom and his father are no longer living. My brother is groomsman. And again so much easier to let his sister wear whatever she wants.

We are leaving it up to them. The only thing I did was suggest colors that went well with the bridal party. My mom chose one of the colors and is choosing whatever dress she wants, she knows she wants a short dress instead of floor length. My dad will be wearing a suit and a tie to match my mom and the same will go with FH's parents.

That's great! Did you pick their outfits out, or will they be choosing what they will wear in certain colors?
