When you first start planning your wedding, there are two major questions to answer: when and where are you going to tie the knot? For some people the wedding date is the most important decision (whether it’s a date with special significance or the only date everyone is available), other couples wait to see their dream venue’s availability and then set the date!

Which decision came first for you? Your wedding date or your venue?

    Wedding date... lol

I had it picked out less than 5 months into us dating, he proposed about 1 and half years after I had secretly picked our date, and here we are... getting married on 1/19/19 which is the 3rd anniversary of our 3rd date.

So basically we knew we wanted to get married in December and we didn't really care on the date as long as it was a Saturday in December. So we really went the availability of the venue on that month!

Date. We wanted March and we narrowed it down to a one that we really liked. The venue had it open it was meant to be!

Well, now I'm curious. What were the bad jokes about dates, Laceyann? I'm always up for a bad joke!

That's so neat! What was so special about the third date that made you say, "Yeah, we're going to get married on this day?"

Kinda both at the same time. I had both a date and a venue in mind immediately after getting engaged - having the ceremony at my church was a given but I also had a dream reception venue that I didnt think was possible cause it had closed a couple years before. But a new management company bought the reception venue and reopened it as a special event space (used to be a museum) and I was able to get it. I booked 2 years out so I could get exactly what I wanted when I wanted it.

I did end up pushing my date back a week a couple months after booking for my sister so she could have more time here with us more easily (she lives in Iceland and teaches so a week later is after she gives her finals as opposed to being in the middle of them). But again since it was so far out I had no issue switching everything over and keeping my dream venues.

We decided on the date first, which we change for a year later. Then we looked at three difference venue when we decided on the location which we are paying for now

We know we are getting married fairly quickly so we knew we would be limited. We found the venue, asked about dates and the date we wanted was available. So it was a win win! Had the venue NOT had our date, we most likely would have changed our date.

We knew what season, but moved our date back a month because the venue was already booked for the entire month 18 months out!

We said we wanted a Saturday in August 2019 and went from there. Interestingly enough we got quotes for every Saturday this August except the 10th. The venue we ended up going with only had one Saturday left, August 3rd so that’s our date!

We chose our date first September 28, 2019. We wanted a September wedding, the 28th is the day he proposed and my birthdate and 19 is the day we started dating and his birthdate. When we started touring venues, we fell in love with one but the 28th was taken already. So the decision, move venues or dates? After looking at available dates and prices we decided to compromise, we kept September, I picked the date of the 20th and he kept the year.

We were looking for late September/early October. I was completely shocked when they told us all of September and October were already booked.

We found our venue then looked at the Saturday’s of the month we wanted and there were only two options so we went with the end of the month and got lucky it was a day open at the venue.
