When you first start planning your wedding, there are two major questions to answer: when and where are you going to tie the knot? For some people the wedding date is the most important decision (whether it’s a date with special significance or the only date everyone is available), other couples wait to see their dream venue’s availability and then set the date!

Which decision came first for you? Your wedding date or your venue?

Venue! We know we want Autumn or Late Spring and a Saturday, the date date depends on the venue

We had originally picked 10/3/2020 as out date and then fell in love with our venue and then found out they didn't have that day open so we pushed the day back to 10/24/2020 wich was their last weekend they had open in October

We chose our date before we chose our venue, which was pretty risky! But it ended up working in our favor as the venue was still available on our wedding date!

It sounds like you really like your venue, Charity!! Where are you getting married? What's included at your venue?

The first date we chose was a day in April because his parents married in March, and mine married in May, so we wanted a date in the middle. Then I realized that where we live, it’s quite cold and sometimes still ice outside in April. So we decided to push it back to early autumn.

The date came first, by far. We knew the date last year and just booked our venue a week ago.

For us we highlighted a few dates we would be happy with and then ranked them. We have a #1 choice on date, but if the venue we pick can't do it we'll go down the date list Smiley smile

For us, the date was determined first. Then, before visiting the venue, we checked with them to see if that day was available.

We chose 2 dates in fall and 2 dates in winter. When then visited the venues we were looking at making sure before we did the tour they were available on our date. From their, we decided on our venue and then selected the date.

We picked a date range (May/Late April 2019), then finalized our date based on what our venue had available. We also asked about Friday availability to see if that made a difference in the price (spoiler: it didn't. Friday would have gotten us a discount on the venue rental, but not on catering, which is where most of the costs add up anyway).

That's good, to have back up dates! Have you looked at the venue dates? Is your top date available?

Is your wedding date an anniversary or something? Is it a date important to your relationship?

Both venues we have looked at have our top date available. The real hold up is getting an appointment with the church to book that date..... Once we speak with the church we'll be able to set it.

We picked our anniversary as the date, but let the venue know we MIGHT be flexible if needed. They had our date open, so it was no big deal.
