Which came first? Venue or Wedding Date?

The first two big decisions you need to make for your wedding are when and where! But which decision was more important to you?? Did you fall in love with a venue and take whatever date they had open? Or are you set on a specific date to tie the knot, and willing to find a venue that works? Which...

Which came first for you? Your wedding venue, or your wedding date?

We definitely had a wedding date in mind, but we had no problem changing it for a few days later when it changed the price of the venue. It also worked well for other parts of the wedding planning.

We chose our venue first and then chose the date based on their pricing. Since it's at an apple orchard it's less expensive during winter and spring... as opposed to fall when everyone is visiting for apple picking. We went with May because it's generally fairly warm here that time of year, and the fruit trees will be in bloom!

Date came before venue! We live in a very hot climate and did not want to invite guests during the hot months, then I went looking for venues to match our date.

Our date came first. We chose April 25 because my birthday falls on the 4th and his falls on the 25th. We knew we wanted to do it in 20/20 because we're high school sweethearts back together after 25 years. It just so happens that 04/25 falls on a Saturday this year, so it's perfect for us. If the venue didn't have our date available, it just wouldn't work. We ended up booking a state park with a bunkhouse and a couple of cabins. That way nobody will have to drive afterwards if they don't want to.

The venue came first then I chose the date according to the dates available. I did not want to pick a date and then be bummed if it wasn't available .

We selected several dates of importance but ultimately it came down to the venues availability.

My fiance and I live in the South and went to different major universities so we picked a Saturday that didn't have any big football games on. I always knew I wanted an October Wedding, so we just looked at the football schedules for the 4 Saturdays in October.

We chose the date first then the venue. We were unwilling to change the date so we had to select a venue, in our case venues, that were available on the date.
