What Kind of Favor Would You Want?

Kiwi Kawaii, on July 8, 2016 at 9:28 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 82

Okay, I know the general consensus on favors is they are totally unnecessary. But FH and I still have not made up our minds about if we will do them or not (we have less than 20 people at our wedding, so it's not like it would be very expensive). If we do favors, we may somehow incorporate gaming/movies or something. We don't have a gaming "theme," but we are doing little touches where we can.

SO, the actual question I want to ask is: Would you prefer something edible or something useful as a wedding favor?

Something edible. If you give me something personalized with your name/wedding date, I will most likely throw it out.

Edible. I wouldn't likely keep or use anything with someone's names and wedding date on them. I would eat anything delicious though!

WE did favors against my better judgment like 30% were left behind and they were edible.

Edible! You could always do a cookie with some sort of gaming decoration on top?

Edible. Because what you may consider useful, someone else may consider useless.

I prefer edible. One of the wedding favours I got was a golf ball with the couple's names and wedding date on it. Thing is I don't golf unless you count mini golf so that favour is just sitting in a box somewhere in the house.

BeachyLauren - I honestly hadn't really decided on what would be useful. FH's idea was getting mugs - which I wasn't sure about. I guess I figured something that we know our crowd might use. But I've been leaning edible anyway.

Amber Erin - That would be cute! Just found this picture of mario themed decorations that could be done on cookies. Smiley laugh

Edible. Or matches. Those are the only wedding favors that ever get used in my house.

Edible; FH and I are doing personalized M&M's, not original but we like candy.

Edible. The only non-edible one I received that I used for a little was a wine stopper that had a heart on top. It worked for one fridge when I moved it was too tall to shut the door on the new fridge. Chocolates, cookies, cake pops, little bottles of wine/alcohol, all good =)

We didn't want something edible but still wanted something special that would be liked. We chose shot glasses. Everyone in our family can get use out of them. They only have a green Claddagh on them and will have a little note inside that says something like "Thanks for sharing in our special day" this way it's not personalized but still says thank you and if the thank you note gets thrown away it's literally just a piece of paper.

@kiwi kawaii, I love it! I think that would be a great way to tie it in, plus who doesn't like cookies?

As for helpful, I think you could check into getting wine stoppers? I received one and loved it. I think the only tough part will be incorporating the gaming into it where people will like it.

    Eta: words.

Amber Erin - That's true, too. We decided not to go all gamed out for that very reason. But I have been trying to throw it in where I can Smiley winking

Useful - like a wine glass. But that doesn't seem to go along with your theme so I guess it's edible.

Something tasty to snack on later. Cookies, smores, macaroons, sugarfina candies, chocolate, donuts...I will take any of that. Or a mini wine bottle.
