What is your back-up plan if it rains on your wedding day??

Private User, on September 26, 2013 at 3:35 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 50

Being the stressed-out bride that I am....I have been religiously stalking weather.com, and even though my wedding is still 9 days away, I'm kinda freaking out that it says its supposed to rain/storm. I currently don't have a backup plan, except that I just ordered 4 clear bubble umbrellas.....I'm seriously going to cry if it rains all day and I can't get any pictures outside Smiley sad

Just to clarify...our ceremony & reception are indoors, I just want pictures outside.

I'm not getting married outside but I think cute umbrellas are a great idea and will look nice in pics.

But I've seen a lot of threads on here about watching the weather and I've seen advice given not to!! I've seen it said on here that you will make yourself crazy if you watch the weather. lol

I saw a bride's pics on here and it rained on her wedding day and her pictures were GORGEOUS and she took some outside. Can't remember who it was though. But your day will be special with our without rain Smiley smile

We have an all outdoor ceremony and reception. If it rains there will not be a ceremony, FH and I will get married inside our room at the resort. Reception moved inside the restaurant and a tent will be brought in to cover the dance floor and DJ which will remain outside. Rain would really suck.

We had indoor and outdoor options, but you have just GOT to see what these brides did in the rain: http://www.onabicyclebuiltfortwo.com/2013/09/wedding-melanie-nicole.html

Get some rain boots and make the best of it!! Smiley smile Don't let rain ruin your day. IF it rains, there's nothing you can do about it. You just gotta suck it up and make the best of the situation. That day is about marrying the man you love with all of your closest family and friends. Don't let the rain ruin it!

But I'll still keep my fingers crossed for you that it doesn't rain! Smiley laugh

Hoping you have good weather! We are planning a beach wedding with a reception on the deck of the house we are renting. If it rains we can hold everything in the great room of the house, but I know I will be disappointed.

We will host the ceremony where the reception would be and during cocktail hour, the venue will set up the reception with the proper tables and chairs.

Everything is inside for us, so it'll just a matter of getting into and out of the church, and we'll have to take pictures inside. Our photographer actually showed us pictures he did in the rain (under archways and such) at our ceremony venue, so we'll make it work.

Fortunately, we chose a venue that has awesome options to move things inside incase of rain. That's my biggest fear as well!

We had rain in our forecast too...but we lucked out and the weather was perfect. I know not everyone does. All you can do is hope for the best.

It won't rain! But just in case I'm going to get a tent and hope and pray I don't need it b/c otherwise I will have to hold the ceremony in the same place as the reception

Didn't have one. Foolish? Yes. But it was a beautiful, sunny, 90 degree day, so no fret Smiley smile I picked the date on purpose, good weather time.

We will just have the ceremony in the reception hall. Not ideal, but it will work. I would be more upset by not being able to play yard games

That's one of the major reasons I'm getting married indoors.....I get LION HAIR when it rains.

Everything is outside but the cocktail hour so our back up is a tent on standby. We did not have this back up when we postponed in April but that day it stormed and poured for 24 hours so a tent would not have worked.

We're doing it all inside, but I hadn't thought of photos, and it's highly possible that it will rain in September in Michigan. We're fortunate enough to have a great indoor location, though, so we shouldn't have a problem with it, and we have already discussed doing photos the next day, anyway, so we also have that as a back-up plan.

I've seen super-cute rain photos, though, so don't worry! :-D

Our ceremony was outside and the reception was inside. We had an indoor ceremony option but it sucked. It was the same room as cocktail hour and there would have been a bar in the background. If it rained, I would have dealt with the ceremony space, but I would have had a re-do with my pictures at a later date.
