We have to have the food catered from the venue, as they do not allow any outside food. Their plated meals begin at $130pp and their buffet meals begin at $140pp. Hors d'oeuvres are $7 per piece. I am trying to be creative and make my own menu to provide to the chef and see what pricing he will come back with. So far that has been the cheaper route.

We aren't for sure what we're having yet but for the caterer we're booking with for 200 guests it's 11.50 a plate. This includes 2 entrees, 2 sides, a veggie, a salad, rolls, and you can either do a dessert bar or you can exchange that for 2 appetizers. It's by far the most reasonable catering place we've seen. Most in my area have used them and the food they've done at the weddings I've been to have always been really good and came out hot. Can't wait to do our official tasting this weekend!

@Boozy, sorry if this sounds like a dumb question, but what would be a good main course option for a vegetarian? I want to make sure everyone is happy with the menu Smiley smile

The prices you are quoting in your OP are on the high end in our area (Toronto, on). There were many venues around that $130 pp price, but that just wasn't in our budget. We found a place that had a special Friday menu for $87 pp, although we paid additional to upgrade to the deluxe bar; and we also opted for a beef/chicken combo plate for the entree. Menu in picture attached. The menu also does not mention that prior to the ceremony there is non-alcoholic beverages served as guests arrive.

ETA - we will also special selections for the vegetarians and those who are celiac - although those options haven't been selected yet.

Yep!! Our menu will be big, with touches of Autumn and beer. Our venue is a craft beer brewery. It has true pizza ovens and the pies are *outstanding*

Ours is 85.80 per person but that includes appetizers, salad, big platter of cheese fruit and whatever and entire. Not to mention 5hrs open bar. So I'm perfectly fine with the price

At my reception we will be having a cilantro butter steak, BBQ chicken, salmon, green beans, rolls and butter, garlic butter rice, and cheesy mashed potatoes. This will be buffet style and 15 dollars a person. I had a tasting a week ago and all is so delicious. I was shocked at how cheap it was, especially in the Washington DC area.

Our current menu - we'll probably change it several times between now and then, though.

    Stationary apps:

    - Decorated boards garnished with fresh fruit, ripe brie, dill havarti, Vermont cheddar, herb-crusted chevre, ciabatta wedges, sliced baguette, crisp crackers and flatbreads

    - A variety of Judie's breads; goat cheese and figs; marinated tomatoes and gorgonzola; broccoli rabe and sausage; arugula, parmesan and roasted garlic

    Passed apps:

    - Short rib stuffed creamer potato with gruyere cheese and chives

    - Cape oysters with blueberry granita

    - Miniature crab cakes with chipotle aioli

    - Chicken lemongrass dumplings with sweet soy dipping sauce

    - Alsatian tartlets

    Salad course:

    - Deconstructed caesar salad: garlic crostini, romaine spear, anchovy

    Intermezzo:

    - Lemon and basil sorbet

    Entree choices:

    - 6 oz filet mignon served with roasted garlic potato gratin, asparagus, and port wine demi glace

    - Bacon-wrapped chicken roulade with dried cherry and walnut stuffing, bourbon glaze, mashed fingerling potatoes and haricot verts

    - Lasagna rollups with ricotta cheese, roasted tomatoes, spinach, basil and caramelized onions, served with warm white bean and fennel salad with tomatoes and roasted garlic, roasted tomato coulis (vegetarian option)

    - Rolls and butter

    Dessert:

    - Miniature dessert bar

    - Coffee and tea service

    Five-hour open bar

$129 a person, plus tax and gratuities. A damn steal in CT.

With all due respect, a 15 buck menu is not going to be the same as a 200.00 menu.

    OMFG @Punkin that looks AMAZING.

@Maui, I dunno, cause I'm not a veggiesaurus. Maybe a portobello mushroom? Or some sort of squash dish (ratatouille?)

We splurged for the higher end of food and alcohol. it was 107/ person with 2 passed aps, 1 stationary and 3 main entree menus, 3 salad choices, and 2 sides+ seasonal veggies, rolls and full dessert bar.

    Appetizers

    seared albacore

    artisan cheese and fruit

    steak medallions

    salads

tangerine and peppered goat cheese spinach salad

    caprese salad

    traditional house

    main entree

    filet mignon with demi glaze

    chicken with tomato cream sauce

    herbe cream stuffed pork tenderloin

    sides

    basil corn mashed potatoes

    quinoa with toasted almonds

    seasonal veggies

    Bread and butter

    Dessert Bar

    Pecan Pie

    Creme Brulee

    Chocolate covered strawberries

    key lime pie

    chocolate fruit tarts

    Open bar from 4:30-10:00

There were cheaper and wayyy less options for $75, but face it people come for food and booze. We budgeted $30 a person for alcohol since its at a swanky place(its consumption based) so possibly much cheaper.

Our package also included upgraded linens, chairs, and 1 hr of hosted bar in that price. Essentially our venue has a minimum for food and alcohol but a VERY cheap rental fee for the location. with service gratuity and bar added in, it came to $165/person. Our venue includes gratuity for all their servers, etc.

Ours will end up being about $120 after taxes and service fees ($98 before).

Six hand passed hors d'oeuvres, cheese and crackers, Tuscan Table, pasta station during cocktail hour, open bar, and three course dinner including filet mignon option.

    Includes venue rental as well.

Ours buffet style meal is 15 per person catered by the venue. We are having chicken fried chicken, Chipotle chicken, mashed potatoes, green beans, salad, and rolls.

Not sure about the cake yet and I haven't purchased the liquor to stock the bar yet so I'm not sure how much that will cost.

Food is from the venue and it's the cheapest I found.

*Apps- $125 for 50 mini egg rolls and $85 for 70 fruit skewers

*Dinner option 1- $35 NY Strip with a baked potato and steamed baby carrots

*Dinner option 2- $26 Chicken Marsala with mashed potatoes and vegetable medley

*Dinner option 3- $26 vegetarian lasagna

All dinners also come with a bread basket, salad, and raspberry cheesecake for dessert. I told them I don't want the dessert though because I want everyone to eat the wedding cake we're spending a lot of money on
