What does your menu consist of?

Maui K, on September 29, 2016 at 12:46 PM Posted in Planning 0 114

And what is the cost of your menu per person?

Also if you're doing hors d'oeuvres, how much do yours cost?

We have to have the food catered from the venue, as they do not allow any outside food. Their plated meals begin at $130pp and their buffet meals begin at $140pp. Hors d'oeuvres are $7 per piece. I am trying to be creative and make my own menu to provide to the chef and see what pricing he will come back with. So far that has been the cheaper route.

    Those prices are really high.

    $7 per piece?

    Mine ranges from $3-$4.50.

As for plated meal, a 3 course can run from $60 to $82 at my venue.

Buffet style, Louisiana celebrity Chef John Folse, for 47 per head, including beer & wine open bar. I have no idea how it's possible, but yay!

@VC, I know, RIGHT? Per. Piece. Ridiculous! The wedding is in Maui, and I think their prices are high because they do not allow outside food....so they can make the prices whatever they want! lol

OP - I guess so. I'm still surprised people would book based on those prices but hey if they can afford it. We are at a restaurant so no outside catering either but I bet if their prices were scary high, no one would book them Smiley smile

That's pretty expensive. We have to use our venue for catering as well. We are paying $100 per person for sit down but the venue is included in that. It includes choice of 2 entrees plus vegetarian option, salad, and 3 different passed hors d' oeuvres for cocktail hour. Alcohol not included.

Our guests will have a choice of chicken, beef, shrimp or grilled veggie tacos, burritos or quesadillas. With Spanish rice and beans. A bunch of toppings. All they can eat for 4 hours. It comes out to about $9 a person....it's going to be a very laid back wedding and our families like to eat... A lot. Haven't decided if I'm doing passed appetizers or if I'm having a cheese and cracker, crudité buffet situation for cocktail hour.

Wow, that is expensive! Mine is only 19.50 per person. It is buffet style with the opiton of two meals with two sides and a salad. This also includes soda and other drinks and a dessert bar. Edited: Not sure what we are serving yet but thinking a pasta and some sort of meat choice (stuffed chicken I believe).

Social hour apps are $12 pp for 3 options.

Meal is 4 courses at $37 pp. Includes soup, salad, entree plus sides and dessert.

We are also having a wedding cake. This will be roughly $10 per slice (including delivery fee etc.)

Drinks (beer, wine, tea, sodas etc.) are estimated at $15 pp. (EDIT: All the above prices do not include taxes, gratuity or tip)

We have to use our venue for catering also. We're doing a buffet with chicken french, a plum ginger pork tenderloin, tortellini with vodka sauce, herb roasted potatoes, and green beans. Salad and rolls served family style at the table. That's $24 a person, and then we're doing 3 hours of open bar for $15 a person. We're going to do a consumption bar (that we're paying for) when most of our crowd leaves. If they stay, we'll extend the open bar until our reception ends. Our appetizers (veggie tray, cheese tray, bacon wrapped scallops, and caprese skewers) are $10 per person. Our venue was a great deal for our location, but others I looked at we're still lower than what you found.

Mine was buffet style, but made up of all heavy hors d'oeuvres

Cocktail hour: Baked brie w/crackers, assorted cheese & crackers, hummus & veggies, chips & salsa, fruit: $615.00

Dinner: Spin dip w/bread, tomato & mozz platter, stuffed mushrooms, grilled veggies, chicken w/asparagus, bacon wrapped shrimp, smoked salmon, redskin potatoes, broccoli salad and prime rib carving station: $2,646

    Total Food: $3261

The plated meal cost would have been around $50 a person and that was just for 1 option- so everyone would have got steak or chicken. I liked the idea of giving people lots of options instead!

    Edit: 115 people

I'm paying $118pp (but tax and service fees makes it about $180) for a four course plated dinner that includes two main course options. We have a salad, soup, pasta dish, and then choice of filet mignon or salmon.

Plus $12pp for dessert, one choice.

We're not doing hors d'oeuvres or cocktail hour.

We also have to use our venue for the catering. We are having 3 waiter passed Hors D'oeuvres, salad, 3 entree plated dinner (Chicken, Steak, or Veggie), late night snack, and full open bar for $40.29pp. That seems pretty expensive, but I am in Indiana. Things are cheaper to do here....

ETA: Forgot to include booze....$61.29 pp with full open bar. Smiley smile

Mine is $79/pp for a 3 course meal with 3 entree choices. My apps run from $3 to 6$ per piece. From what I understand, everything in Hawaii is expensive because so much has be brought it from the mainland.

ETA: this does not include alcohol.

I have an inclusive venue so my package comes with 6 apps (2 hot, 4 cold) and buffet or plated is the same prices. I get 2 entrees and a carving station, 6 kinds of salad, either rice or potatoes, rolls.

We're doing prime rib for the carving and one of entree of chicken and one of fish.

I'm not sure what the prices are since my venue doesn't do a full breakdown since they also include the cake, the dj, ceremony florals, centerpieces, invites and bar.

This is an impossible question, because it's so regional.

In my area, (north NJ, outside of NY) a plated dinner with a full cocktail hour (stations and passed), open bar, and dessert is going to run 160-225.00 PP, plus tax and service.
