What are you doing for a groomscake?

Michella, on March 10, 2012 at 11:46 PM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 26

My FH LOVES little debbies cakes, My daughter found this one and I LOVED it. It so fits my FH... between him and his dad this will be gone 5 mins after the reception starts. lol

I will be doing this myself, the first one is the one that I want to go with but the second one has more of the cakes that I will be using. I have a zebra print theme. Those cakes would go better.

Those are really cool. My FH is all about the wedding cake (He is a Cake Boss fanatic). I mention groomscake and he gives me the "look". He has a good eye and can pick out flaws in cakes from across the room. I told him that the cake design was going to be up to him since he cares more about it then I do. I probably won't eat more then just the one bite anyway.

OMG that's awesome. What do you use for a base?

Our groom's cake will be some version of this from the Jewell bakery. I'm surprising FH with it at the RD. Smiley smile

I don't know what they used in the pic's but I will be using a one layer each three tierd cake, I will use the icing to make the little debbie's cakes stick. Unless someone else can think of something else kinda neat besides cake to use as the base? Because I will already have our wedding cake.

    Those are great ideas ladies!

I haven't decided what I'm going to do for him... It's either going to have to do with Steelers, Yankees, or his jeep.

This is ours. FH is in love with the Colts (well, that may change, he's pretty pissed about all the changes they are making) but this is what our baker is doing for us. The only difference is that the football will be coming out of the round cake instead of laying on top.

BTW, Michella, that cake looks fabulous. I love unique cakes - I bet it will be the most fattening, sugary cake ever but I think your guests will get a huge kick out of it.

    I love it.

Because we had a carrot cake for our wedding cake, I had a simple sheet cake with our bike logo on it for his grooms cake. It was half yellow with raspberry filling and chocolate with raspberry filling. This way we thought our guests would have a bit of everything.

I am doing a Mario Brother Cake... not as fancy as the ones I have seen in the internet but its going to have mario, pipes, and piranha flowers... The baker told me she could also make cupcakes with different mario items on them so I havent decided which I should order yet.

I love the idea of Ba-Bomb cupcakes!

Ours isn't really a groom's cake technically, but we're having two different kinds of sheet cake for the guests, and since I hate cake, we're having a small heart-shaped cheesecake for the two of us. It was fh's idea, he wanted me to have dessert at our wedding Smiley smile

Michella, could you use little debbies as the base? Hold them together with frosting and using them as 'blocks' so to speak. Then every bite will be a Little Debbie bite.

Never thought about a grooms cake..do you sit it at the same table as the wedding cake? and do you serve at the same time too?

    What an awesome idea!

FH is a former navy pilot so his grooms cake will be decorated with navy insignia. He only likes yellow cake with chocolate icing so wanted one that truly was for him.

    Great ideas everyone!
