Wedding Night Hotel?

MrsC, on June 4, 2013 at 10:32 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 28

How many of you are planning a hotel for your wedding night? We are not leaving for our honeymoon till the next day and have heard so much about people just crashing on their wedding nights from exhaustion. We are thinking why spend the extra money just to sleep in a different bed for one night. Thoughts?

We're staying at a motel. Nothing super fancy, but there was NO WAY we were spending out wedding night at our parents' homes. No way. I think if you already live with your FH, then it's different. For us, we felt we had no other option.

We are staying at the same hotel as our wedding block. We are providing a coach bus to take everyone back and forth from the hotel to the venue, so we will be taking it back at the end of the night as well. Our venue is about 45 minutes from our house, so it's just easier to crash there overnight then drive home after a really long day!

Since we are having to stay in hotels anyways the night before I'm staying in a room with my family and he is staying with a GM the wedding night we aren't telling anyone where we are staying and booking a hotel.

We are but our reception is only 3 to 4 hours long. I thought maybe for our anniversary that we could stay there again. It's the nicest hotel in the area and $150.

Plus I don't see driving an hour home, then wake up and drive right past our venue on the way to our honeymoon.

Mom was kind enough to pay for a fancy bed and breakfast in a castle for two nights. So yes, we are.

Since we've lived together for about a year and a half (and FH refuses to use the AC all summer--and we're getting married in June!), I'm really excited about it. =)

We've decided to stay in a hotel in an entirely different city than most of our guests. There are smaller hotels and motels about 15 minutes from the venue...we're going about 45 minutes out to be a little swankier. Smiley smile

My ex and I spent our wedding night at our house.

FH and I are staying at the hotel where we're having our reception. I'm booking a suite for Friday evening (my kids will stay with me) and then he and I are staying Saturday in the same room. Kids will be with my parents.

We are not staying at hotel the night of the wedding. We will be heading back to our house to save the money. We are leaving the next day for our honeymoon so we couldn't see spending extra money when we have a house.

We stayed together in the hotel for two nights: the night before the wedding and the night of the wedding. We wanted some alone time. Since we stayed at the hotel that we had a block for guests, they put us in a room with a whirlpool tub, so we definitely enjoyed some time together in the room. The alternative was to stay at my parents house (which we did 2 nights before the wedding) but we got married 3 1/2 hours away from where we live. And all the romantic stuff, and the fancy lingerie, waited until the honeymoon. We didn't do much at all on the wedding night - we were very tired.

@Amy - That is wonderful. I should have invited more out of town guest.

@Someday Mrs. W - You just gave me a great laugh! Enjoy that AC.

We also got a free night stay with our hotel block, so we stayed there the night of the wedding. DH actually stayed in the same room the night before the wedding, I stayed at my parents.

Since we stayed around in town for 2 days after our wedding, we stayed in the same room for an additional night; that's when we really got to enjoy it! We were too exhausted our wedding night, didn't go to bed until 2:30 a.m.

We had a bridal suite booked but then the hotel "mis managed their inventory" (ie. gave it to someone with more guests booking rooms than we had, is what I'm guessing, and with no apology). So we will be staying in our townhouse, which is honestly better and cheaper anyways.

We got a room by the beach to get away for a night before returning to home and work and school for our son and normal life. We have a week in between the wedding and the honeymoon so the night away was pretty important.

Yes we are staying in a hotel night of the wedding however, our house is a good hour and a bit away from the venue and we would not have transport back to our house anyways.

Depends if we end up having family at the house then yes we are getting a hotel. His mom might just stay here and if she does and we do decide to not just crash no way do I want her to hear us lmbo.

We are staying the whole weekend at the hotel, because it's literally STEPS from the venue (hotel is on the golf course we are getting married at). Too convenient.

We are staying at the same hotel as our guests. FH will be there a few nights before and I didn't want to go home afterwards. Just thought it would ruin the mood.
