It’s a need for us. I love cake and my fiancé loves frosting so we have 2 layers of cake naked and the other 2 are loaded with frosting. I am definitely looking forward to eating cake especially with all the dieting and exercise I’ve been doing.

Nice to have the cake. for us, a dessert is a need though (personal decision). We are having family make pies (pumpkin, apple, etc) for our end of august wedding. saves money and gives the guests more choices.

Nice to have. There’s so many options now for alternatives to cake I don’t think it’s a necessity anymore.

Neither! Didn’t have it, didn’t WANT it. We did provide a fun dessert which was well loved, and a dessert in my eyes is a necessary part of a formal hosted dinner. But no need for cake.

Nice to have. I hate cake so we are skipping it for something I will actually eat and save some money.

It was a need to have for us, we aren't keeping many traditions but wedding cake is one we are. We're also going to offer cupcakes to our guests but not a full out dessert bar.

My FH don’t eat cake. So I’m going to get a 2-layer round cake and a cheesecake for him.

I would say need to have for us. I know some people provide alternatives which is fine but we rather have a cake.

Nice to have but not needed. We are having a one layer cake to cut surrounded by mini cupcakes, cookies and pies. This way there is a little something for everyone. I hate seeing all that money spent on a cake that gets wasted.

Neither. Not everyone is a cake person. I say go with what desert you and your SO like the most and if you still want a cake topper, there are fun ways to do this without having a cake.

I plan on having a small cake for cutting in addition to a desert table with a variety of other sweet treats. I'm not sure how big of a cake I should get though.

It’s traditional but I like pie or ice cream. I wouldn’t pay someone to serve cake that’s a waist of money. I also don’t like the idea of freezing a cake and eating years later.
