Need to have - but any dessert not limited to only traditional cake. Cake, cupcakes, pies, cookies, ice cream, macaroons, pancakes, etc!

Nice to have. Our venue includes dessert in the price and gave the option of cake or a sweet table. We opted for the sweet table and still have the top tier of the cake so we still have something to cut. We just liked the variety of a sweet table and that they're bite size desserts so people can pop them in their mouth and get right back to the dance floor!

I don't necessarily think a cake is needed, but some type of dessert is needed.

Nice to have. Not a fan of sweets so it wasn’t our priority. We had one mostly for the cutting the cake part and of course for our guest.

Nice to have. We are most likely going to have a cake, however I enjoy the idea of something like cupcakes or whatever else.

Nice to have. If it weren't included in catering, we would have just stuck with a dessert bar. Buttt...it DOES mean we get to have both. YAY SUGAR!!!!

Need to have for us! We love the idea of picking it out together and feeding it to each other! We might do a smaller cake and another dessert option. Also we are having a fall wedding so we are doing caramel apples for favors!!

Nice to have. My FH and I are not huge cake people... we are having an october wedding so we are doing a s'mores bar and cheesecake bites. We are having a tiny 5" cake to cut (and shove in each others face; we both want to, so theres no hard feelings).

Nice to have. We're doing a pseudo-family-style dinner at our reception venue (a pan-Asian restaurant), which already includes a plated Asian-style (i.e. less sweet) cake for the dessert course. I'm Asian and therefore don't have much of a sweet tooth (I hate frosting), so we've opted to do 2 macaron tiers that will be put out towards the end of the reception. Much prettier and guests can take some home as they leave the restaurant.

FYI just because someone opts to not to do a wedding cake doesn't mean their wedding is any less "real".
