Wearing white to someone else's wedding

M&MPALMER7, on April 23, 2016 at 8:44 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 87

On Facebook I've seen pictures of a couple of my "friends" weddings. I noticed some guests wearing white. I've seen like 5 weddings where at least one guest is in white. Is this normal now? I always thought it was rude but maybe things have changed?

Have you guys noticed people wearing white or really close to white dresses to weddings recently?

I think it's very rude. I've also seen a few people do it, and my mom was contemplating an ivory dress until I told her very specifically not to wear one. I thought it was common sense that whatever color the bride is wearing, you don't wear, and if you don't know, assume it's white/ivory/light pink.

I still think its rude. A girl at my sister's wedding wore white. It was obviously not a wedding dress, but I still gave major side eye.

Unpopular opinion obviously but it doesn't bother me. Everyone is going to know who the bride is, unless they show up in a ball gown or something similar I think it's fine.

Still rude. And reeks of attention seeking.

Not acceptable. I even check to see what the BP is wearing, so I don't wear the same color.

My FMIL bought white to wear to our wedding and I am not happy about it. I know "things are changing" but I still think it's wrong.

My MIL wore a solid white sweater over a navy dress at DHs cousins wedding (so her niece) and honestly I found it very rude because even though it wasn't her dress it was still a major part of her outfit and ended up being about 50% of the color on her. It would be one thing to wear something with a touch of white here or there but anything solid white I think is rude. The most I've ever worn is I have a blue dress with a band of silver and white in a pattern about half an inch wide at the empire waist line.

If anyone wore white to my wedding that's honestly something that would bother me to the point of affecting my relationship with them going forward. Purely because to me that is disrespectful and if someone is willing to treat me that way it will alter how I think of them from then on.

I wouldn't do it but I'm not going to judge Aunt Fanny or Cousin Betty if they show up in white. Now if someone else shows up wearing a giant ivory ballgown I might start to question what the hell is wrong with them.

My wedding theme is basically all black and white so I'm trying to get my guests to wear black/white/gray if they can. It's just really funny because all the girls are like "oh but I can't wear white" and in my head I just think "I just asked you to please wear those colors! I'm telling you it's okay!"

I saw this girl wore a full length, long sleeve, lace dress to a wedding. It looked ridiculous! I don't understand how some people don't know how weird that is.

I think there's a special place in hell for people who are that needy and attention-seeking.

I think it depends on the type of dress. I went to a wedding and wore an ivory dress that had big red embroidered flowers. I didn't really think of it being a "white" dress since it had so much red on it, but who knows maybe the bride was scowling at me.

My grandmother is wearing a white dress to my wedding. It was bright colored flowers on it, and she's wearing a white sweater and white shoes. She's my grandmother. I don't think anyone's going to mistake her for the bride lol.

I notice this at OTHER peoples wedding. We went to a wedding at the beginning of this month and someone was wearing white skank ass up her ass dress. It was so unbecoming. However I really couldnt say if anyone wore a white dress to my wedding. You say it now that you'd be so upset but you honestly will be in such a different mind set that day that you probably won't see it or even care! I'm obviously against it and would never do it myself.

Lol I honestly don't care if anyone wears white as long as it's not a ball gown or another wedding dress of some sort. If someone did that I would happily kick them out! Bye Felicia! Smiley smile
