Hello all!

I’m not sure if this is the proper group for this discussion. However, I wanted to know if you ladies and/or gents wear your engagement rings all the time.

Recently, I was made to feel bad, perhaps unintentionally but perhaps not, about not wearing my engagement ring 24/7. My FHs family and I were talking about planning and my rings and such. When a member of his family said that an engagement ring should be worn at ALL times and never taken off, with quite the attitude. As if she judging me for taking it off. Mind you, I take it off right when I get home, and put it right back on when I go out anywhere. I don’t want to get it dirty, damaged, or lose its shine while I am doing my everyday tasks at home.

So tell me, what do you do? Do you wear it at all times, without taking it off? Or do you take it off for certain tasks?

Thats a little rude for her to get an attitude about your ring and your choice.
I'm a nurse so I bought enso rings, (the silicone ones) so I don't have to worry about the wear and tear at work on my engagement ring. Most other nurses on my unit that are married/engaged don't even wear their ring at work either. They don't wanna lose it. I'm not as worried about that as I am with scratching the metal or it looking dull.
Don't let anyone make you feel bad about taking it off. Its your ring, and just because it isnt on your finger at all times doesn't mean you're not committed to your significant other at all times.

I take it off when I get home from work and put it on before I leave the house. I lead a very active and dirty life style I would hate to destroy my ring while playing in an engine. I have forgotten to take it off before and the jeweler wanted to strangle me.

I take mine off to shower and if I’m doing any cleaning around the house my ring was his mother and grandmothers ring so it’s very special to us that we are able to use it!

Definitely don't let anyone make you feel bad about taking it off! That's silly... I take mine off as soon as I get home from work and I don't wear it when working out or being active, showering, cooking, cleaning, sleeping, or hanging around the house. If we're having company over then I wear it, but if it's just my fiance and I at home, I don't usually wear it. I want to keep it looking beautiful like you said and it's quite the statement piece as I like to joke (he did good) lol. Everyone's different, there's nothing wrong with leaving it on 24/7 or taking it off to do everyday things. Do you girl!

I workout 6 days a week. I do not wear it when I do, not do I wear it when I go on runs or races. Other than that, I do wear it everyday for most of the day.

I take mine off when I’m doing manual labor, but then I put a silicone ring on instead. I’m working an outdoor function in a few weeks for the non-profit I work for and will probably just wear the silicone the whole time as it’s weekends. When I want to look nice I’ll put it back on, but that way the guys I work with (who MAY be a little raunchy) know I’m taken. Depending on what I’m doing I take it off and do the silicone ring.

I sometimes forget to put on my engagment ring. Normally, I take it off before bedtime but lately my ring finger has been swollen so I can't get my ring off..

    I wear mine 24/7*
    *When in reason.
I teach colorguard - 1) it hurts everytime my ring hits the pole and 2) I don't want to potentially damage the ring. So during practices, I wear it on a necklace.
Also, I work in a laboratory. So I keep it in a box on my desk when I'm in the lab doing expieriments.
Finally, I'm terrified of it falling off in water (proabbly won't but I'm paranoid) so I take it off for showers and swimming, etc. (either leave it at home or wear it on a necklace).

Honestly, it's what you're comfortable with. Don't let others make you feel bad for how you live your life.

In my line of work which is working with cattle and horses. I usually take mine off when working just because 1) I don’t wanna ruin it or loose it 2) so it stays clean 3) I love wearing mine but sometimes I just wanna take it off because I’m not use to wearing it all the time.

I wear mine pretty much all the time, except for when doing dishes, showering, and swimming. But I think it also depends on the design of the ring. I can understand larger rings snagging on things or getting in the way of household duties. Either way, if it doesn’t bother your FH, you’re fine!

I take mine off only when I put my makeup on, and when I take a shower. I wear gloves over it when I'm cleaning.

I always wear my ring out but when i am home cooking, cleaning, showering or anything like that i take it off. I wash my hands a lot at home and use lotion a lot so most of the time i just leave it off at home because I don’t want it to get damaged or dirty or make any stones comes loose by having to clean it too frequently

    Hello,

I wear my ring every day, I do take it off when I wash dishes, cleaning, and taking a shower. I just feel like I will get it dirty or something.

I think everyone is completely different. Initially, my fiancé would mention something when I didn't have it on. So then I would wear it for days on end, even while swimming in the pool and sleeping. Now, I tend to remove my ring when sleeping, showering, cleaning.

I’m an esthetician so my hands are constantly in water/lotion all day. I wear a silicone ring at work and put my actual ring on for when I’m not at work. If I’m going to be doing anything that may involve dirt/grime I’ll either wear gloves or take it off.
