VEIL shopping! Where did you get your veil?

Married, on January 21, 2013 at 1:33 PM Posted in Planning 0 38

Next up on my list is to find a veil. I am leaning towards a cathedral length. But I only want to wear it during the ceremony, so I really dont want to spend a ton of money on it, but I obviously still want it to look pretty!

I bought my dress from Alfred Angelo, and tried on a beautiful veil, but it was $300 and I just couldnt pull the trigger!

Where did everyone buy their veils?

I got a birdcage veil of Etsy, so that's one place you can look.

I know Carole got a gorgeous veil for her daughter on BestBridalPrices.com -- I believe at the store it was $500, but on the website it was only $198, so perhaps they'll have the one you already looked at at a better price.

I got bamboozled. LOL. I got my veil from the bridal boutique where I purchased my dress. I paid $225. It was cathedral length with scallop edges and hand beading. I keep finding myself looking at veils with lace edges BUT i'm fighting that desire to change it.. I think that etsy deal sounds amazing. I can say however that there are no "wedding keepsakes" in my family so my veil and cake cutting utensils will become heirloom Smiley smile

I went to David's Bridal. It's a place I avoided like the plague, but when I saw the prices of veils I decided to check it out. I got a very similar veil to the one I loved at the bridal salon for $100! At the salon, it was $300. Veil was not important to me, so I went cheap Smiley smile

I bought mine when I bought my dress, it's a finger tipped veil with lace applique's around the edges, it cost $179 I know it was expensive but it matched the dress so well, I couldn't resist!

@Lucky me- Thank you for the Etsy recommendation, I wil try to look for that shop tonight, I'll message you if I have trouble. Thanks so much!

@RayRay- the veil is not all that important to me either, I know it is going to drive me crazy and I will take it off immediately after the ceremony, I just think it will be so pretty for ceremony pictures! I will check out DB, thanks for the suggestion!

I got mine on Ebay (with success)! I didn't want a veil at all but my mother talked me into it. I am only wearing it for the ceremony so I didn't want to spend a lot on this (especially since I wasn't crazy about it from the beginning). Mine is cathedral length, shimmer tulle with rhinestone accents...for all under $40. Give it a shot if you don't want to spend too much.

We got our veils from a consignment store, on a day it was having a half price sale, for $89 each. (And for good measure, we got back most of the money by reselling them after the wedding.)

We actually tried eBay, and had a horrible experience with it. The netting was very stiff and didn't drape right. We sent it back, and the seller promised a refund. However, the seller then kept saying they hadn't received the veil back, until it was too late for us to get a refund via the eBay buyer protection policy. Lesson learned: NEVER let the deadline for invoking the eBay buyer protection policy expire, no matter what the seller says.

I got my veil from the bridal shop I got my dress from. My dress is a champagne and ivory color, and it matched perfectly. It was a gift from my mom, and it was $200. Pricey, but beautiful.

I had the girls take close up pics of my veil and tiara when I went dress shopping. Now I'm searching ebay and amazon for ones that match closest ! I have found 3 that are under $20 and the tiara I want is $28 which is alot better than $130 for the tiara and $150 for the veil. Even if its a horrible it won't be too much of a waste. I am going to check out cosignment stores first though.

Thanks for all the recommendations! I just got on Etsy, and found a simple, white, cathedral veil for $30! So I bought it! The pictures look great, I figure if its not all that great in person I am only out $30! But I think it will be just perfect!

I’m doing a birdcage veil. When I bought my dress from David’s they offered me like $10 off the veil as well so I purchased it the day I also purchased my dress. I think it was like $39. I had been searching on Etsy before that and so I knew it was a decent price. It has a flower/feather hair piece attached to it, so it fits my theme perfectly.
