Whether it sounds like something funny, creates a funny first/last combo, or will have you saying "you know, like [blank]" for the rest of your life, what jokes are going to come after you change your name?

Changing my name gave me the full name of Mary Tyler Moore on the Dick Van Dyke show. Of course, I would have never realized this but a lot of old people like to point it out to me.

I'm making my maiden name my middle name. My middle name is my paternal grandmother's middle name, but she passed away before I could meet her so I'm not really attached to it. Plus I'm doing a lot of career things including running a blog and networking. I need my maiden name so I'm still recognizable.

My new last name will be Dye. I've already gotten "Don't name your son Will." I told FH we should name a boy (if we have one) Tyler so his name would be Ty Dye...jokingly of course.

I also know I'll be saying "Dye with a y, not like dead" for the rest of my life...

No jokes, but I'm moving from a name that no one can pronounce.. to another name no one can pronounce. I'm going from Pleszkewycz (ples-kev-idge) to Charlebois (shar-le-boy)

My maiden name was Easley, so there were plenty of jokes. I was glad to get a new name. Haha. New name has to be pronounced sometimes because people over complicate it and think its Spanish...but otherwise its fine.

No believes that FWs last name is real since it's a word but I couldn't be more excited to drop my cluster of a last name for such a simple one.

I'm going to be a Winter, which I love. I'm sure I'll have to add "like the season" but that's fine.

However, and I think I mentioned this in the baby names thread, we had talked about naming a son Cole Damian. It seriously didn't hit me for a few days that our son would be Cole D. Winter. Noooooo!

I'm looking forward to saying goodbye to my long Polish name that I always have to spell for people. I'm trading it in for a super simple and generic last name, "White." I'm sometimes uncomfortable, though, when I say something like, "The White Family," "The Whites," or "I can't wait to be a White!" LOL....it sounds a little racist to me, but FH says I will get used to it.

In other news, I can't wait for my October 22nd facebook status: It's a nice day for a White Wedding!

I've got it easy. Bailey... like the booze. Lol I'm used to people changing my last name (Melton) to Nelson constantly so maybe I won't have to correct people as much anymore.

I'm going from one easy one (Lord) to another easy one (Brown). Although one of the guys at work told me FH should take my last name because it's a cooler name lol.

FH's last name is "Guest." There have been an abundance of wedding guest jokes made due to this. So, I'm kind of looking forward to getting all those jokes directed at me after the wedding haha.

My new last name has 12 letters and is not spelled like it sounds... Neither is my first or my middle. By the time everything is changed my full name will have every letter but U and Z.

I'll be changing mine to a Polish last name: Stachowicz (Stack-o-witz). I'll have to spell it out for the rest of my life but I thought I was pretty good when it came to jokes until one of FH's friends called him stack-o-shit...damnit! haha

FH's last name is the same as a mountain in Spain, and he LOVES it, its where his ancestors are from. The downside... no one can spell his last name, and lots of folks have trouble pronouncing it. I am undecided on changing my name, though.

My last name now is Craig (insert all Jenny Craig jokes) and it will be changing to Hemphill (pronounced hemp-hill) and NO ONE says it right. I have to tell them pronounce it like it is two words. Luckily i haven't heard any jokes about my future last name!

I'm going from one fairly common last name (and that of 2 famous people) to another even more generic last name. Currently there are two people at my office with the same first initial and my last name, so my email address is my first initial and middle initial, which just happens to be MR. So I get alot of jokes at work about being "Mr. Lastname". I am excited to change last names for that reason, and my initials will be MRS thank you very much!!! Smiley smile
