South Florida (Ft. Lauderdale) Venue Stress!!!

LaNedra, on July 12, 2012 at 2:14 PM Posted in Planning 0 15

OMG! I'm 2 weeks into what will be a 9 month engagement and have no idea on where our wedding will be held. We're hoping for a spring wedding and to not break the bank! I'm looking for a NICE, yet affordable, location to hold both the wedding ceremony and reception. Preferably one that includes (within the price) the catering, linens, tables & chairs. I'm not looking for a mansion or anything, but I'd like for my first (and only) wedding to be something memorable without me spending the next few years still paying for it! We hadn't set a "budget", but discussed that we'd hope to pay no more than about $5,000 for a venue (location for ceremony, reception, catering, tables, chairs, lines, wait staff) for approx 110 guests.

I'm in Fort Lauderdale and am looking all across Broward County. Any help/suggestions would be GREATLY appreciated!!! Thanks!

Have you checked using the vendor search here on WW? That might be a good place to start. I'm on the other side of the state, so I'm not much help, but there are a number of FL brides on here -- I suggest adding "South Florida" to your title to get their attention.

Hi LaNedra-welcome to WW. I have no clue about Florida, but if I were you, change the title of your post to include Fort Lauderdale-it will help attract more Florida brides.

Good luck to you; $5000 is doable!

I'm getting married in South Florida in 2013. That budget will be tough for the number of guests you're having, but I may know of a few places. Check out the Miami Beach Botanical Gardens and the TreeTop Ballroom at Jungle Island. The MB Botancial Gardens might be your best bet if you're looking for an outdoor ceremony. The venue rental is very affordable, but you will have to rent everything needed for the reception.

Check out Galuppi's in Pompano Beach. I shot a reception there a year or two ago (ceremony was at the church).

I'm not sure what you're looking for in terms of decor or elegance, but the service was very good, the food was good (thankfully my brides feed me!), and I couldn't believe the price when the bride told me.

Check out local parks if you are ok with no liquor.

Also, the old school house in davie is rent-able, IGFA fishing hall of fame was REALLY neat for my MOH's wedding this past March and they have a lady who can tell you which vendors are best. UHHH I am drawing a blank for more options

I visited Galuppi's earlier this month, and fell in love with it. It's quite a beautiful place. However, the catering manager ruined my entire experience. First, she tried to reschedule my appt, claiming she had another out of town bride coming in (i scheduled first) but guess what...I was coming in from Jersey and needed to book my venue that weekend. Secondly, she wound up seeing us both, and it was awful she was doing more for the other bride than she was for me. it was a horrible experience that left me in tears. So yeah, Galuppi's, BEAUTIFUL venue, but the service made me take my money elsewhere.

Have you considered Broward county parks, they will allow you to bring in your own caterers.

Thank you to everyone that's offered suggestions!! I've looked into each of them along with other venues. I am HAPPY to finally say that we have found our perfect venue. Our wedding will be held in Deerfield Beach, FL at Royal Fiesta Event Center. They cover EVERYTHING and are extremely reasonable in price!! After speaking with others that have held weddings there and reading their reviews here on WW, we're confident that this is the perfect venue for our special day!

    Thanks again!!

Wow! What a coincidence! I love that it is privately owned and the owner, Robert, is flexible in creating packages that work with any budget. I'm getting everything I wanted while working with a tight budget...without having to skimp on anything!

Best of luck to you in your decision making!!

Thanks Michelle! That's what I've been trying to get more reviews on... THE FOOD! So far, I've heard only good things about it.

Are you having the ceremony there too? That is the only thing I don't like. It looked too small for our wedding.
