I was just curious about other couples on this site. Some people may be aware, but I'm not engaged yet, I just wanted to play with the inspiration boards. We are planning on getting engaged, I'm just concerned about it being "too soon." I would like my parents to keep speaking to me... He's thinking...

We were together just over 4 years when he proposed, and our engagement will be almost 2 years long. I never wanted a long engagement but we were moving to another state and he wanted to propose when I was still surrounded by friends and family.

I moved in with my FH after 6 months (long story) and we kind of transitioned in an engagement pretty early but he didn't actually "propose" until my birthday last year, right after our year and a half mark. We will be together just over 3 years when we get married.

We've been dating about two and half years. Our engagement will be about 18 months. We're getting married, unintentionally, the day before our 4 year anniversary. (We didn't want to compete with other weddings this summer and my brother, who's in the army, will hopefully be back from deployment by then.)

We had been dating for a year and a half when we got engaged but 2 months into our relationship we knew we were going to marry each other. We felt is was more important to get to know each other's families before we jumped into anything. He proposed last May so by the time we get married in June it will have been a year long engagement. Smiley smile

Up to our engagement, my FH and I have been dating for 7 years(since the 10th grade!) We were each other's first real relationship Smiley smile. We lived together for 4 years before getting engaged. Our engagement will only be 9 months. I have always wanted a long engagement, but I think 7 years of waiting was long enough!

It's interesting seeing how many ppl have had short relationships and are soon to be married. It is true that it works out for some ppl but not everyone is that lucky. My FH and I became a cpl early May 2007 after months of dating. We moved in together 20 Aug 2009 and got engaged days later (he already had the ring n just needed the words to say to go with it :-) We bought our first house together 19 Jan 2010 and our wedding is planned for 22 May 2010. Both our families thouoght we were moving a little fast since we'll have only been together for 3 yrs when we get married (crazy right?) I hate to be the negative nancy, BUT being in the military, there are lots of cpls who meet, marry, and learn eachother later. It rarely works out. I really do hope all of you have long, happy relationships. :-) It's going to take some hard work and dedication but it can be done. Happy planning everyone!

FH and I met March 2008 he proposed 09-09-09 (my 30th bday) we will have our civil ceremony June 2010 and our big wedding (aka vow renewal lol) June 25, 2011. Oh and we met online and are an international couple...don't believe all the rules and regulations. Trust your instincts...if he's the one he's the one!

My sweetheart and I have been together for a bit over 2 years. We were best friends for a year and a half before we started dating. He proposed Dec. 27th, 2009, just 22 days after our 2 year mark. Our wedding will be in either June or July of 2011 (waiting to book our venue... gotta get that deposit money first!).

We dated on and off for 7 years. But as a back story we live in a very small town and the first time we "dated" he was 15 and I was 13. We would date for about a month then break up. Though we always ended up back together, he was just to young to committ to one person for very long. When I was 18 we dated again and broke up on a very bad note. We both went our seperate ways and then when I was 19 I heard that he was engaged and getting married shortly. I was hurt, but since he had taken a new job I never ran into him so it didn't matter. Well when I was 20 his friend 2-wayed me and asked if I wanted to go riding (we ride BMX) and mentioned the word "we" were wondering if you wanted to. When I asked who "we" is he said Josh and I...I tell you what I was like a giddy little 13 year old all over again. Mind you I hadn't seen Josh, nor heard from him, since I was 19. When they got to my friends house I knew that I still had feelings for him. Long story short he asked if we could try it

Again and I said we'd see. From that day on were were inseperable. Well we dated for 2 months before I had to leave on a 3 month trip. Before I left he asked if I would marry him, it wasn't a proposal, just him questioning whether I loved him enough. I told him yes so we just considered ourselves "engaged" to anyone who asked. In December of 2009 he bought the ring and we made the engagement official :-). So "dating"= like 7 years. Engaged=It will be 2 1/2 years when we get married. We needed a long engagement due to financial issues, though we don't want one. I say if you know you are meant to be together then go for it. If it is your parents blessing that you want then change the date to 12-12-12 or something else with meaning. That way not only are they happy, but you will have an extra year to get to know eachother and grow together :-). Good luck wth everything!..(sorry for the novel. It's hard to tell our story without the back story because 2 months is a short time to date

We have been dating for 2.5 years before getting officially engaged. However if it wasn't for money/job problems we would have gotten engaged at 1 year.

He hasn't even talked to them yet. He wants me to move in around the same time, which I am fine with. I am a little concerned b/c I have some debt I am trying to get rid of, and I don't want my poor past decisions to affect him. I'm not a financial guru, so I don't know just how much it will affect things and for how long. We weren't going to put my name on the house he has until my credit score is better.

My mom has said that she wants me to date someone longer than she dated my dad (they're now divorced). They met and were married within a year. Granted, that was 28 years ago. Plus, we are planning on being engaged for over a year. I'm not really looking for validation, I was just more curious on each of y'all's stories! Like I mentioned before, I know he's "the one", and it doesn't matter to me when it happens. I'm happy enough know it will happen.

We'd been dating about 10 months when we got engaged but had been talking about it for awhile. When we went home for christmas he talked to my mom and then asked me. Our engagement will be about a year and half and we will have been together a little over two years when we get married!

Dated for just under 2 years and a 7 month engagement. But we're in our very late 20s, so I think that makes a difference.

FYI - 11/11/11 is a very popular novelty date and vendors might be difficult to book, as well as expensive because of the high demand.
