Sorta WR: How lond did you date before becoming engaged? How long is your engagement?

Our one Year is in march.. soo dating for almost a yr and i have known him for longer.. getting married in two.. It doesnt matter if you feel it is right then it is..

Yeah we both might have to get over ourselves with the date. I'm a little ocd, and it bugs me enough that we'd be getting married in 2011 (ugh, odd numbers!). 11/11 just seemed to fit. If anything, it would get pushed later, not earlier.

Thats why we picked 6-11-11...didn't wanna wait til nov. LOL...but its still has 11-11 in it!

We dated exclusivly for 4 months before i engaged and it will be 13 months together by the wedding i know i move fast but i knew it was right fast

We were together four years before getting engaged, and it will be a 17 month engagement.

We began dating October 6, 2008, got engaged (in Cabo!!) on October 6, 2009. We are getting married October 2, 2010. So we dated for one year exactly and about a year of being engaged!

Engaged about 3 months Of meeting each other. Wedding planning 6months.

Our engagement will be about 13 months and we dated for about 26 months before that. We moved in together after dating for 7 months.

My mom actually thought my engagement was SHORT, but I wouldn't want it to be any longer! My parents dated for 9 months and were engaged for 9 months, but that was in the late 70s.

We started talking marriage in Oct. of 2008 and we only got together in June 08. So 4 months.Come Christmas he gave me a promise ring, and to us that was almost the same as enagment ring it just ment we will get married just not yet.

In Jan, I was on the boards and considered myself enageged. I only got my ring in Sept. 09, but even by then I had just about everything planned. We set our date for Oct. 15, 2011 when we were talking marriage only 4 months after dating.

All said and done we'll be together for 3 yrs. I think that is a good time frame. Being enagaged isn't marriage, so if you's get enageged tomorrow, and only get married late 2011, I really don't think ti'd be too soon.

Are your parents old fashion and believe in a long relationship? Maybe talk to them about it.

In the older older days, my grandparent days (they'll be 90 this year) they had "courtships" and they lasted under 5 months then got married almost instently.They've been together 65yrs

Wow feels like I'm sort-of copying jlacy's story...lol We started dating april of 2007...I moved in with him and his brother 3 months later (July). He proposed On my birthday Of 2008 (November). So We dated for 1.5 years and Engagement 1.5 years. So a little over 3 years!

We got engaged 6 months after being together and are coming up on the 5 year anniversry of our engagement (2/12/10) and we are getting married 2 days after our 6 year anniversary. We did things backwords though and started our family during the engagement. Although to some it is not ideal, we think it's great because we now have 2 beautiful boys who are going to walk me down the aisle, and we couldn't be happier about it.

11-11-11 is going to be a hard date to get. I would start planning now just to make sure you get it. We picked our date last year and picked our place late last year. I know quite a few people that are getting married on that day.

We dated for a year. Our engagement was 11 months. You definitely need to know someone for a year....I think you need at least 10 months to plan comfortably...some brides like up to 2 years, which is a bit long to me....anywhere from 10 months to 18 months seem very adequate to me.

We dated 3 years before getting engaged and will have a 14 month engagement.

We got together July 12, 2008 - Got engaged Christmas '08 - Wedding date is September 17, 2011.... We were inseparable up until a few days ago... we are still together but thas a whole 'nutha story. (See my previous discussion from tonight)

When we got engaged we had been together about 4 1/2 yrs and living together for almost a year. We got engaged on July 3, so we're getting married a little over a year after getting engaged. I used to think I wish we would have gotten married sooner, but then I think about how our relationship was a couple years ago and realized that we personally needed time to grow and change together. Now the timing is perfect Just wish we could have a fall wedding, but w/grad school summer works the best for me.

When we get married on 5/23/10 we will have been dating (off and on, but mostly on) for 11 years. No, my key didn't stick- 11 years. I got engaged this New Years. So I figure waiting over 10 years is long enough. I've pretty much had our wedding planned for a few years already, so no use in waiting any longer.

We started seeing each other "exclusivley" on dec.15 2007 and he proposed dec.15 2009 so exactly 2 years before getting engaged. and Our engagement is around 15 months.

Its kinda funny, cuz all the people where im from, engagements are usually 2-6 months. I get soo many weird looks for being engaged over a year, they all think im crazy. But here on WW i feel like i have a normal engagement length, it feels nice not to be judged about it being so "long"
