Sleeping with your ring...

FMR2018, on January 5, 2017 at 11:07 AM

So quick poll...I have a gorgeous ring that I never want to take off. Who here sleeps with their rings on or doesn't and why? What's the protocol here?

I sleep with mine. I only take it off to wash my hair because it gets caught in my tangles.

I take mine off because my hands swell when I sleep. It could also get stuck on something in your sleep so I was told not to.

I sleep with mines on too. I only take it off when showering, cleaning and putting products in my hair.

I take mine off when I sleep. I'm an "active" sleeper and afraid I'll snag it.

I am horrible with misplacing things, so I have to leave it on unless I'm doing especially dirty kitchen work- so far I've only taken it off to clean it and to kill a lobster.

I take mine off to sleep, shower, clean, cook, and workout. I just don't want anything to happen to it. I feel like I'll definitely be a band only girl as soon as I'm married unless we're going out haha.

I put it in the box when I sleep. I used to sleep with it on but the prongs must have been getting caught on the sheets over night because the stone became loose quickly. It wasn't a problem when I stopped sleeping with it on.

I take mine off to sleep, shower, work out, cook. Plus I have sensitive skin and I get a little reaction from my ring sometimes, so it helps to not always have it on.

I don't sleep with my engagement ring on either, I work from home so I don't really wear it in the house, I do put it on when I go out though.

I think it's weird that people sleep with it on. Do you feel less married when it's on your finger 24/7? Lol.

It's not good for the ring to be slept in, and it's not always good for your finger, so I really don't see a reason to keep it on. My ring comes off when I come home from work, usually because I'm going to cook/clean/shower/workout etc.

I'm one of those whose hands swell at night so in the morning I can't get my ring off to take a shower.

I don't sleep with mine on because I move a lot and it scratches me. I also take it off when I work out because my hands swell up. I started taking it off when I bake too because around Christmas I got cookie dough stuck all over it.

I sleep with mine on. It's my understanding that if you wear it when you sleep it can snag and pull the prongs and the metal can wear against the cloth and (after YEARS) erode the metal a bit. Mine is vintage so I do tend to worry a little, however I've only had it since July!

Right now I wear it ALL the time, except for showering. Once I have my wedding rings I might invest in a cute lil holder for it at night (maybe I'll try and find a kitty ) but until then I'm wearing it all the time!

I don't wear my engagement ring to sleep, doing dishes, showering, working out, and unfortunately can't at work. I am a dog groomer and the hair gets stuck in between the ring and pricks my finger. Sadly I wish I could wear it while working!

I never take mine off unless I'm washing my hair or cooking meat that I have to season.

I sleep with mine on. I only take it off if I'm washing a lot of dishes or handling raw meat. I don't want to make it a habit of taking it on and off and possibly misplacing it.

I sleep with it on because it doesn't occur to me to take it off at night, just like my earrings and other jewelry. My stone isn't so raised that it snags though, it's very comfortable.

I do remember to take it off for cooking, cleaning, dishes, and showering, but I've had to develop a habit for those circumstances.
