Sleeping with your ring...

FMR2018, on January 5, 2017 at 11:07 AM

So quick poll...I have a gorgeous ring that I never want to take off. Who here sleeps with their rings on or doesn't and why? What's the protocol here?

I sleep in mine. I just love it too much to take it off. Plus, I'd occasionally forget to put it on in the mornings when I took it off to sleep.

I sleep with it and honestly if it "snags" and breaks then that's a really bad quality metal... more like plastic

I take mine off to sleep, cook, do laundry/housework, gym visits, or frankly if I'm just chillin' at home. I sometimes keep it on when coming home after work but...I usually start cooking so it comes off until the next morning or if we happen to go out at some point.

I'm shocked there are so many comments on this thread! I clicked because I figured some sort of drama broke out haha!

I really do not understand women who take their rings off all the time. I wear both my rings pretty much all the time, including when I sleep. I do take them off when I get out of the shower in the morning as I'm getting ready, so I don't gunk them up with hair products, makeup and lotion. I also take them off when I use harsh cleaning chemicals. I only wear my wedding band to the gym. That's it!

Please change your avatar. You can do this on the computer or by going to the WW website through the browser on your phone instead of your app.

Settings > Profile and Privacy Settings > Account Image > Change Image > Upload > Update Profile Settings

If you think you have already updated your avatar to a picture through the app, you haven't because it's not an option to update it on the app! Smiley smile

I take my ring off before my hands get wet, when I'm at the gym and when I'm prepping food.

I take mine off when showering, swimming, and handling raw meat.

I keep mine on....but there was an article in Brides email regarding this topic in the last week or so. Again with split opinions from different jewelers.

Omg I'm so protective over my ring! I always take it off at night & anytime I'm cleaning, doing laundry, etc.

I take mine off and put it in the ring box at night and when I shower or if I'm hiking/doing yard work, etc.

But I never have been one to sleep with jewelry on ever. So I think it also has to do with your previous comfort level with wearing jewelry at night in general.

I take mine off to shower and sleep because my best friend got me a super cute monogrammed ring holder box thing lol. I do sleep with it on when we travel and are spending the night in hotels or someone else's house.

I take mine off at night...the reason was because my diamond sits high on the setting and it kept getting snagged on my blanket when I was sleeping. If it didn't I wouldn't take it off!

I take mine off at night. I am a pretty rough sleeper so I move a lot. The first night I gave FH a pretty nasty scratch with it and it came off during the night. I have had it sized since then but I just take it off to sleep and put it back on after I get out of the shower.

I have also heard the "5 S's" mentioned earlier. I never wear it to sleep, working out, showering cleaning or swimming. Don't want to risk damaging it.

My mom told me to just keep it on all the time, but my sister, who works in a jewelry store, told me to take it off when I sleep, cook, wash my hands, and shower. I only take it off when I sleep and shower though.

I never take it off, i wear gloves while washing dishes or cooking raw meat so i don't have that issue but whatever feels best to you.
