So quick poll...I have a gorgeous ring that I never want to take off. Who here sleeps with their rings on or doesn't and why? What's the protocol here?

I sleep with mine on. I only take it off when washing my hair or my daughter's hair, to avoid getting caught in our hair. Other than that, it stays on.
Mine comes off as soon as I come home from work. It's put in a safe place until I wake up. As soon as I get home I'm cooking, cleaning, and getting me and the kiddos washed up. Plus, like PP said, I am one who's fingers swell at nighttime.
I slept with my original ring on for a total of 8 weeks before I lost a diamond. The sides of the ring have tiny diamonds and the prongs are the size of a grain of sugar. These prongs snag extremely easy (which I obviously didn't know at the time). Got my ring replaced and now keep a tiny glass jewelry box on my bedside table that it stays in every. single. night.

I dont sleep in mine, I also take it off to shower and cook.
I take mine off all the time. If I'm home, my ring is off. This is the second ring I've had (not by choice, first one got damaged) so I'm super careful with mine.
I sleep with mine on, but mainly because I don't wear it for my entire workday so I like to have it on most other times. I'm a dog groomer so my hands are in water so much I'm afraid it'll get damaged. I also don't wear it when I shower.
Mine's an antique opal with a diamond halo and actually has a bunch of prongs that need to be tightened, so I take it off all. The. Time. But my rule is, I only take it off at home. I'm a teacher and am always getting my hands messy at work, but that's too bad...the ring will have to endure. I'd rather put it through a little abuse at work than LOSE IT. At home, though, I have a ring dish next to the kitchen sink for when I'm cooking/cleaning, one in the bathroom for when I'm showering/putting on makeup, and one next to my bed. I wore it to bed for the first few days after getting engaged, but actually woke up in the middle of the night because a prong got snagged on the sheets. I really need to take it in to the jeweler!!
I slept with mine on for the first week, but I'm a wild sleeper, I end up in all sorts of weird positions. I kept scratching myself with it, and that made me worry about damaging it, I mean if I'm hitting myself hard enough with it to leave a mark, it's getting hit on other stuff too. It makes me very uncomfortable to take it off at night, I have this weird fear that it will fall under the nightstand and disappear forever or something, but it's better than continually damaging the ring! (and waking up with random scratches)
So I have worked in the jewelry industry for 5 years and some of these comments are making me shreak! I take my ring off in the shower, at night, going to the gym, when cleaning, and definitely when in the ocean and swimming. It doesn't matter what color gold ring you have they will all be affected by the chemicals that are in shampoos, dish cleaner, chlorine, and even the tiny salt particles(even all my platinum ladies are at risk). Your ring over time will become porous and depending on the severity will be hard to fix. Sleeping with it on isn't the end of the world but it does put you at risk of snagging prongs and then loosing stones. Last but not least if you know you are going to do all of these things anyways then please take your ring in every 6 months and get it inspected by your local jewelers. I have been on the other side of this when women come in and have lost stones or even lost their center stone. I don't want that to be any of you.
