Sleeping with your ring...

FMR2018, on January 5, 2017 at 11:07 AM

So quick poll...I have a gorgeous ring that I never want to take off. Who here sleeps with their rings on or doesn't and why? What's the protocol here?

I sleep with mine on. it's a low profile setting so the 8 prongs it has don't catch on much. but I do take it off when I shower, put lotion on, or do dishes & other stuff like that

I take mine off as soon as I get home. I love wearing my ring- but I'm not a jewelry person- so I take it off stat to keep from losing it.

Ultimately my fingers swell tremendously at night and it gets very uncomfortable.

There are some days I cannot put it back on in the morning.

Hubs sleeps with his band on- I have no idea how.

I take my ring off to shower, cook, apply lotion, and that's about it.

I take mine off when I get home. It bugs my OCD sometimes to wear it so if I'm not out and about, it's in the ring dish.

I used to sleep with it, but mine needs to be resized so I take it off during my sleepy time so my hand doesn't swell up. Other than that, I wear it all day long.

I sleep with mine, one time I took it off and in the middle of the night I woke up in a panic because I thought I lost it!

I sleep with mine on, but mostly because I forget about it on my finger. If I take it off and forget to put it back on, when my FH goes to hold my hand he panicks thinking I lost it..

My e-ring is a 100 year old heirloom, so maybe I baby it more than necessary. But I take it off when I'm cleaning, doing yard work, showering, cooking something like raw meat, and working out (if I have somewhere safe to stash it... otherwise, I feel it's safer on my finger).

I take my ring off as soon as I get home because of cooking and cleaning. I don't wear my ring to bed because it feels weird to me. There's no protocol, just do what feels right to you.

My ring stays on except when I shower, lift free weights, and prepare any raw meat or mix anything with my hands.

I've never had any issue with it getting snagged or scratching me (and my ring is super high set with sharp edges).

I take my off when I do dishes, shower and sleep. It snags easily and when I wasn't taking it off I had two small brackets break and lost 2 stones, thank goodness for insurance. I haven't had any issues since. I have ring dishes everywhere.

Because I lose things, I have made it a habit to take my ring off the minute I get home, and I put it in the same spot. All jewelry actually.

ETA: my jeweler told us I can do anything with my ring except lose it lol. But seriously, he said do not go swimming with it, do not wear it to the gym, or while using harsh chemicals.

I don't wear mine when I'm sleeping, showering, putting lotion on, doing dishes, or when I'm cooking with raw meat. Other than that it's on all the time. Even in PJ's I'm rocking my ring.

I take my ring off at night and when I do the dishes/shower/swim/beach/deep clean. The diamond sits high up and I would hate to hurt it in any way (I know they're tough but still)! And it's extremely sharp so my fiance and I would wake up scratched and probably bloody if I slept with it on.

I take it off when I sleep, shower, do the dishes, and yardwork. I don't want it to grab the blanket when I sleep or scratch my face ( I move a lot when I sleep). And I don't want it to be too dirty or to lose it. I have already had the middle prongs tightened once because the stone was loose.

I take my ring off as soon as I get home from work, and I put it back on in the morning when I'm putting on other jewelry (so basically, right before I leave the house). I don't really wear it at home at all. And I take it off when I go to the gym.

I don't sleep with jewelry on. My hands swell at night. Plus my cousin couldn't take off her ring we almost had to get it cut off her finger, but my grandfather figure a way to get it off. Since that incident I never slept with jewelry on ever again.
