I didn't want white. I didn't even want to question if it was white or not. It's hard to tell in the picture unless you pay attention to the girl in the white dress behind me, but it's more of a rich ivory color. Totally not what I had thought I'd end up with. I'm not a fan of ruching or fitted tops since I gained so much weight after my transplants, but this is what I fell in love with! ETA: I purchased this at Brilliant Bridal in Mesa, AZ. I had gone to a few of the top salons, but wasn't treated very well. I finally went to Brilliant Bridal (resale shop) and was treated SO much better than I had been at any of the other bridal salons.

Also... I don't think white or ivory is a must. I took photos of a friend's wedding and the bride wore a gorgeous black Victorian gown. My MOH is supposed to be getting married in October and she doesn't plan on wearing white or ivory. She'll be looking in bridesmaids dresses for her dress.

I knew I wanted a black dress, but still wanted it to look like a wedding dress. Dress shopping was NOT fun. I ended up ordering a Maggie Sottero from a picture. I couldn't find any bridal salons that had the dress to try on since it was a 2013 style. I love it, thank goodness. I was pretty worried ordering a dress without trying it on or ever seeing it in person. I'm having a layer of black tulle added to the skirt and train. No pics of that yet, still at the seamstress.

I went to a few bridal shops in the area and wasn't able to find anything that I liked..at all, even when I told the consultant to not even look at the price tag. I eventually found this dress online. I absolutely LOVE it, but I had to alter it quite a bit. It had a zipper back, but I added a corset. Two weeks until I can actually wear it!!!

Mine is a Maggie Sottero, and I got it from a small bridal shop in the Atlanta area called Bride Beautiful. I bought it off the rack for $1350, but the retail price was $1790.

My dress is champagne with ivory overlays. They didn't tell me ivory on ivory was also an option, or I probably would have chosen that, since I only knew about what I got and white on white.

ETA Mine is a Stella York from a small bridal salon in Fremont, CA. I was intending to spend less on a dress, but I saw this one online and found out a store I had a decent coupon for from a bridal show carried it.

I got WToo's style Oriana. It originally retailed for $1800, but I got it preowned from tradesy.com for half that

As you can see, it's not white or ivory I always wanted a pink dress, and this shade of champagne was just enough pink while keeping the dress sophisticated.
