Round or Square Cake?

Mrs. Kline (Sass), on October 19, 2010 at 4:59 PM Posted in Planning 0 47

My SIL is making my cake and she suggested something like the first picture and wants to know if I would want a round or square cake or one layer of each. What do you think? The other pics are just ones that are similar that I found.

I am truly fond of the round hat box style, but both are lovely.

I like the third one. I can't remember seeing a combination of round and square together. I like it.

I like the square one. It seems a little more modern.

Never thought of it that way, Mrs. J. lol

I would say square, or the combo one. Smiley smile

I really like round cakes normally, but I think a mixture of round/square is so refreshing!

I'm not a fan of the third one. I like different, but not just for the sake of being different. Why is the one square? It just looks like they made a mistake. haha.

I like both of the other ones for different reasons. For a Christmas theme I think I'd go round, its more classic.

I like square because it looks kind of like a present, to go with the Christmas theme. You could maybe do a different color on each layer to make them look like different presents in a stack.

I don't like the way the round/square combo looks in that picture--it might be what Kiera says, that it just looks weird because there's only one square, but something about it just doesn't appeal to me.

Hmm...both are lovely. However, I wouldn't do the square in the middle. Mine will be square on the bottom, but round going up.
