Question about alcohol

Ok I have a question. And this is an honest question. I have noticed that alcohol is a huge topic of discussion on here. And clearly dry weddings and cash bars are definitely a no no. But what should the bride and groom do if they hate being around alcohol. We don't enjoy how it makes people act. We avoid being around when people are drinking. If we go to weddings with alcohol, we leave as soon as it's appropriate because we don't enjoy being around a bunch of people who are drinking. It doesn't matter if they are drunk or not. I just hate the whole attitude surrounding alcohol. I don't like to be around if it's around, no matter if people are having one drink or ten. So I'm wondering, this case, in order to be proper hosts, we are obligated to serve alcohol, but then we won't even want to be at our own wedding... what is the best solution?

I have no problem with someone having a drink, there is no where in the Bible that forbids drinking(but it does say drunkenness is a sin) but I don't drink and neither does my FH or most of our families. We are having a morning wedding at our church, and the reception will be held at a venue that does not allow alcohol. So no, we will not be having alcohol at our wedding.

And no, that does not make us bad hosts.

I call bull on that, because I have been to many dry weddings, and I have never felt that way

I've never had a drop of alcohol in my entire life. My FH drinks. There will be alcohol at my wedding.

But I do avoid those who justify drinking as an excuse for the slightest bit of stress. Poor coping skills tends to equal drama in my book.

I am going to just say if I was asked to a wedding where I had to travel more than an hour and there was no music, no dancing, no alcohol and was served dessert and punch I probably wouldn't go.

People who have never had alcohol make me sad...think of all the deliciousness you're missing. So many amazing wines and beers out there, that pair so perfectly with food!!!

    More for me. Smiley winking

@jenny-I wasn't slandering her religion. I was asking an honest question. If it's against the whole entire families religion and there are members who she feels have alcohol problems is it because they drink?

You never see an LDS bride on here saying no alcohol for money, religious reasons and because someone has a problem with alcohol. You know there isn't going to be alcohol at that wedding. They don't need to explain it.

However it seems that some pull out the card when it seems to suit their purpose and cheap budget.

@MrsFallBride I have been on a medication since I was a young teenager where you absolutely can't drink alcohol with it. But thanks.

Please note it isn't about the alcohol for me. I am not going to break up the day to just eat a piece of cake and have coffee or punch there needs to be some type of finger food.

@MrsFallBride my judgment was toward people who use alcohol as an excuse to cope with the smallest tiny stressors. Not the normal adults with normal coping skills who drink and enjoy alcohol responsibly.
