Is anyone else paying for their wedding solely in cash? Not literally but no credit cards? We opened a joint checking account for wedding savings/payments. We previously paid all our credit cards off and refuse to pay credit for the wedding but it's so hard. We literally have to have all of our deposits saved up before we even meet with vendors we may love. I feel like there's such a risk in losing people for our date by waiting! Is anyone else doing this? Any tips to make it easier? Good news is we won't have any "wedding debt" at all after the fact. Also, we cannot use any prior savings for the wedding..only what we've saved since the engagement.

Deposits with cash, plus caterer because they don't accept CC's. But everything else is going on a card and getting paid off immediately so we get more miles for our honeymoon!

Yep, we are! We put money into a separate account every week just for wedding expenses.

Only cash/savings here too. Not trying to go into debt for a single day of our lives and start our marriage in a hole.

I have the cash available but I'm putting it on my credit cards and paying it off every month. So I can increase my credit Smiley smile

We are using available funds/ opened a savings account for the wedding. Paying mostly by check or debit so we have a paper trail, not super fond of paying cash for certain vendors.

ETA: misread your post lol sorry. Same as you, no credit cards

We paid in cash in the sense that we paid everything off immediately as we planned/booked. We regularly put EVERYTHING on our credit card that we can (some bills that are recurring you can only set up for EFT checking/savings account withdrawals) because we earn 1% on every single charge to our card, and we earn 1% again on every payment we make! So we put everything on our credit card and pay it off the same month. I prefer to use our credit card because, although we pay it off the same month, it still allows us to pay it in our own time (e.g. if we don't have the cash this week, we can wait til next week), and we earn a lot of money back over time! We have the Citibank Double Cash card. I recommend it to everyone! Smiley smile

@gymrat - I'm in Australia where its not as common. We also don't have many cards with cash back, its all earning points and then you exchange the points for cash or products, but you need a lot of points. We did the maths and couldn't find one that was worth it for our wedding Smiley smile

Very jealous of America's cash back credit cards and grocery coupons (something we don't have either!)

Yeah, we decided when we started booking vendors that we would be paying cash or using bank cards/checks to pay deposits and making payments on wedding plans. FH doesn't even have a credit card. I have one that we will be using on the honeymoon just because it's easier to cancel it if something happens internationally. Everything else has been out of pocket

All savings/cash. We already have student loans, which we hope will be forgiven. We don't need more debt lol.

We will definitely be using any applicable credit cards to get travel points! Yay for a free honeymoon!

Yep cash/savings here too! FH is Canadian (living and working here on a work Visa for over 2 years) and doesn't have a lot of American credit here yet and he's still working on paying off his Canadian debts and I am paying of my own debts as well (almost there!!) And refuse to add to it. So we have our joint account where we are both making weekly automatic contributions and we're also adding extra money to our own personal savings accounts. We've been buying and paying for anything we can along the way and started that pretty early on. We were engaged the end of October and found our venue by mid November. Since then we booked and put a deposit for our photographer, put a deposit down on our car, centerpiece stuff, our dessert tower, picture frames for our decor, my mom's outfit, FH bought his groomsmen gifts already, I got an insane deal on our invites and ordered them already etc etc. Just paying for any buying all of the "small stuff" as we go along per paycheck and trying to grow our joint and personal savings as much as possible because we're going to need that big lump payment the night of the wedding for the venue. It's a little daunting but it's a good test for FH and I and I am proud of how well we've done so far. And it will be nice to see there's no post wedding related debt we incurred !

We're paying cash only. We picked a budget and are living off one paycheck while the other paycheck goes to the wedding fund until the number is reached. Will have it paid off in April, wedding is in October.

We're using a credit card with cash back rewards and once the charges post we pay them back. A few of the smaller things like the invitations we put on a debit card. Otherwise, we have a joint savings account where we're saving up the rest.

Definitely use a credit card and pay it off immediately. It will give you cashback and it's A LOT easier to dispute charges through your credit card company than it is your bank if something were to happen.

We are using cash/savings only. No loans or credit cards. We did not want to start our marriage off with debt. We started saving immediately after we got engaged and had a long engagement (about 28 months).

FH and I use the credit cards to pay vendors that allow credit card payments in order to get the points. My card gets amazon points and his gets Hilton points.

Neither of us have ever not paid a credit card bill in full when it came in so we are not going into debt and are getting the points on top of it. I am a bargain shopper and I see no point in shopping for deals if you are going to pay credit card interest anyway.

Also, If you are paying vendors in cash please get receipts for everything and get wedding insurance ASAP

None of our vendors accepted credit cards, even the venue had to be bank checks/certified funds. Probably best that way, otherwise I would have been tempted to overspend on some things!

We did finance our rings but they were paid off within a few months (@ 0% interest)

We paid for everything in cash which is what you should do. If you have to take out a loan or put it on credit cards, you need to rethink your wedding.
