Paying cash for whole wedding?

Is anyone else paying for their wedding solely in cash? Not literally but no credit cards? We opened a joint checking account for wedding savings/payments. We previously paid all our credit cards off and refuse to pay credit for the wedding but it's so hard. We literally have to have all of our deposits saved up before we even meet with vendors we may love. I feel like there's such a risk in losing people for our date by waiting! Is anyone else doing this? Any tips to make it easier? Good news is we won't have any "wedding debt" at all after the fact. Also, we cannot use any prior savings for the wedding..only what we've saved since the engagement.

We use our mortgage redraw as our savings account. So if I can use my CC i use that, and transfer the money just before the due date so its helping with house interest. Otherwise, I transfer it over to my bank account, then transfer to the vendor. I kinda wish I had a rewards CC just for the points but the fee was really expensive. No debt is the best way to go

For anyone who is literally paying with cash, make sure to get a receipt. Otherwise you have no paper trail to prove you made the payment, should anything go wrong. Credit cards also offer certain protections to users, so check those out if you have a choice in payment form. Obviously, you then pay off the cc immediately but you can get cash back and air miles.

All cash here too! Not worth going into debt over a party.

We used our credit card, only because we are offered certain benefits and we always pay it off right away. We rack up travel points and cash back every time we use it.

We put as much as we can on the CC for the 1.5% cash back, then pay it off at the end of the month. Not going into debt over a wedding.

I am. I do pay for things with CC first for the bonuses but I always pay it right off.

Cash/savings. Thats why it is a 1.5 year engagement and not a 6 month engagement.

@perthgirl, there are plenty of rewards cards with no annual fee.

I put it all on my CC (that gives me rewards with no annual fee ), then pay it off in full right away.

I agree with Jessica. I'm super anxious about charging too much on credit so I usually avoid it at all costs.

However, I have a rewards card so I will be paying off the honeymoon with my rewards card (I'll get double the miles) then promptly pay it off since I'll already have the money saved

We are using cash. Didn't want to start off our marriage with any wedding debt. Especially that we are trying to buy a house and start a family soon after. We use checks to keep a written record of all our payments.

My Chase freedom card doesn't have an annual fee and that's the one I use regularly because of the cash back and rewards.

We're doing a combination of cash and credit cards. Like I'm seeing from many others, the credit cards are just for the rewards. I have a credit card that gives me cash for a down payment on my next car.

I had a friend whose PARENTS took out a loan to pay for her wedding. 1. I can't fathom taking out a loan to pay for a wedding, and 2. I wouldn't let my parents pay for my wedding. It's my choice to have a wedding, it's my responsibility to pay for it. My family aren't big wedding people. They tend to view it as being an unnecessary expense. They'd have preferred we went to the courthouse and had a small dinner after, but they are supportive of our choice.

We are mostly cash, with the exception of our airline credit card (for the points!). FH has only put the big stuff on there and we've paid it off the same day it goes through. Don't want any debt here- I just finished paying off my credit cards from college!

I either pay by check or CC, depending on whether the vendor will accept credit. As soon as the transaction posts on my CC, I pay it off. I get 2% cash back, and I'm planning to use that money on vendor tips. We've been saving for nearly two years to be able to pay off everything in full.

I don't know the definition but we will have no debt from the wedding. But we are using credit cards as much as possible to take advantage of credit card rewards like cash back etc. Everything gets paid off every month anyways.

We have our own joint account to save. We are saving for both the wedding and a house. We do not want to put anything on credit.

We paid cash or check for everything we didn't charge a penny! That is why you have a longer engagement and save up. Starting out a marriage in debt is never a good idea.

We are only doing cash also. It helped that he moved in with me a year ago and his share of rent is going for the wedding.

We paid all of our deposits in cash. We had one very affordable and popular vendor who was booked by time we had the deposit. We went with another affordable popular vendor. First get the venue then worry about everything else.
