Is anyone else paying for their wedding solely in cash? Not literally but no credit cards? We opened a joint checking account for wedding savings/payments. We previously paid all our credit cards off and refuse to pay credit for the wedding but it's so hard. We literally have to have all of our deposits saved up before we even meet with vendors we may love. I feel like there's such a risk in losing people for our date by waiting! Is anyone else doing this? Any tips to make it easier? Good news is we won't have any "wedding debt" at all after the fact. Also, we cannot use any prior savings for the wedding..only what we've saved since the engagement.

We're using cards but paying off the balance every month. I like the airmiles.

We started saving first. Once we had a good portion saved we started putting deposits on a credit card and paying the balance off right away. We have all our final payments due soon but as of right now we have over $2000 worth of travel. We will continue to pay things on credit cards and should have a good chunk for the honeymoon! So worth it

Yep, cash only here...we're renting out a room in our house for $900/month to pay for the wedding. It's possible we may have to dip into our savings a little, but it's also possible we'll have some left over....at this point that's pretty much on FH to pick the restaurant where we treat everyone to dinner after the ceremony.

Same here! Paying for everything cash, no credit. But it can be difficult/frustrating waiting until the money is saved up before you can do anything. But I'm sure that's better than still paying for your wedding long after the day has passed. Thankfully, we're about 17months out so we still have time to save.

We are in a way. We pay with CC for the points but pay off our CC in full before the end of each month. We like getting the points and cash back.

We're paying for everything in cash! Literally some things in cash. Our florist said they will give us a discount if we pay them with cash. Some places might do that, it doesn't hurt to ask

Cash only here too! Since college, we have both been living at home with our parents (which I understand not everyone is able to do) and it allowed for us to put more money towards student loans and save A TON. We footing the majority of the bills, but are also fortunate enough to have each of our families help out at well. Paying all cash makes you pay attention to your budget closer and helps you not over spend.

Neither of us uses credit cards normally, so why should paying for our wedding be any different??

Everything related to our wedding was paid in cash, including my engagement ring. My husband worked a lot of overtime to pay for it all, but it was great starting out our marriage without any wedding related debt.

    Savings/cash here.

It worked out because of where we are in our lives. I was accustomed to paying $600 a month to my student loans, and $200 toward my car. Now that those are paid off, I just kept saving that money and that goes toward the wedding.

DO NOT GO IN TO MAJOR DEBT FOR A WEDDING. This is one of the main reasons I don't think people should get married young, especially right out of college.

ETA: I put everything on a credit card and pay it off every month. Gotta get my 2% back on my wedding! Lol.

We are strictly cash as well. No loans, credit cards etc. No money from family, just us. It can be challenging, but in the end it will be worth it.

We are. I use the cc for cash back bonus but pay it off each month. I also like having a paper trail, so if we don't pay by check then it goes on the card then gets paid off.

We're using cash only. I definitely don't want a bill afterwards. We saved for a year before planning. Being completely honest....if you're cash paying I think it's the best way. We literally paid off half our vendors already & I love that feeling.

We are doing exactly what you're doing. We had some money already saved to kick start the deposits but I think it's the best way to go! No wedding debt !!!

So happy we haven't put anything on a credit card yet!! It's definitely hard if you don't have the money to put the down payment right away...however we had a long engagement soo that had helped out so much! Good luck to you

I suggest asking vendors if they give a cash discount. It saves them the 3% or so credit card fee and so sometimes they offer that back or more to you. It worked for me! (And when there isn't a discount, I use my CC and get the points and pay off immediately)

We are cash savings. I save more money when it's cash because I don't like watching it disappear lol. Our venue is cash or money order payments anyways so it's just easier. We have a cute little wedding box we put it in haha.
