Paying cash for whole wedding?

Is anyone else paying for their wedding solely in cash? Not literally but no credit cards? We opened a joint checking account for wedding savings/payments. We previously paid all our credit cards off and refuse to pay credit for the wedding but it's so hard. We literally have to have all of our deposits saved up before we even meet with vendors we may love. I feel like there's such a risk in losing people for our date by waiting! Is anyone else doing this? Any tips to make it easier? Good news is we won't have any "wedding debt" at all after the fact. Also, we cannot use any prior savings for the wedding..only what we've saved since the engagement.

We're using credit, but pay it in FULL every month like I do for all my regular expenses. I am CC churning for miles rewards in order to get mine and my fiance's flights to New Zealand for FREE (normally almost $2k EACH).

Card I just opened has a spend $4k in 3 months to get x points, which is easy when we're planning a wedding and building a house. Opening another card with similar spending minimums in March. Then, when those two have met their minimums, we're doing the same two cards in fiance's name. By the time our honeymoon rolls around we should be good to go!

I have a very strict plan on when to open each card, what to use them for, etc. But every month they are paid in full, so we're not paying a cent of interest for this wedding Smiley smile

All cash! I refuse to be in debt for a wedding. Credit and loans are for emergencies not parties! Lol

We paid for our $30,000 wedding and honeymoon in cash by saving our God given butts off! It felt great to walk about with $900 left over.

No credit card here either, we just didn't want to go into debt for a wedding

We use our delta sky miles AMEX for every expense but we have cash to pay it off immediately. We then use the miles for trips and upgrades when we fly.

I use my Marriott rewards credit card for EVERYTHING (wedding and daily expenses) and pay it in full every month.

We don't even own any credit cards so all cash here. It's been tricky making sure FH doesn't eat out too much so we can save but getting deposits down and then paid off is so much more satisfying than just charging it all in my opinion.

The only time we are using a credit card are when we are buying the little things such as decorations or invitations and those will be paid off with the bill and the only reason we are using credit card over debit card is to get the rewards points. All vendors we are writing checks for.

I'm using a credit card but only for cash back. I have all the money in a savings account. I put it on a card and then immediately pay it off.

While we are really big on not accumulating credit card debt, it can make sense to open a new card that has 0% for the first year and really great sky miles rewards which you can then apply to your honeymoon!

I put the venue payments on credit just to get the reward payments, then paid it off the next week. Everything else has been cash only.

I will probably have student loan debt until I'm 65 but other than that, no debt - we are paying for the wedding with all cash/debit

Using credit is not a bad thing, people! Pay it off right away or before the due date and it's just like using cash - except it gets you cash back and/or rewards! And never use a card that has an annual fee! If you know yourself though and know you won't pay it off in a timely manner, then good for you for not using it.

It just makes me sad that most people seem to be assuming that using a credit card is inherently bad. There can be great benefits you're missing out on!

I've been using my credit card, but I turn around and pay it off immediately. I have a decent cash back rate on my card, so it's worth it!

We did! We put everything on the AmEx that we pay off monthly. It helped us track spending and get the points, and everything was paid off, the last of it with this month's statement. We paid one vendor with checks and my dress was cash, but we like using CCs for the points and safety net (for disputes or theft).

We are. We did buy my dress on the credit card but we like to have something on it so we get cash back.

We are paying cash only. We are using credit cards to pay for wedding things (if they accept credit cards) to get cash back rewards but we both pay our credit cards off 100% every month whether it's wedding related or not. Most of our vendors haven't accepted credit cards though.

My fiancé had the complete cost of our wedding put aside before we got engaged. What a smart man! We got some family help too so we were able to add on all of the "splurge" items we wanted.

I used cards only. Some that had 6 months no interest promos (so I would have enough time to pay it off) and some that earned me miles/points towards future vacations. Cash is king but at least I made my money work for me a bit with the cards. Smiley smile

Putting everything on my credit card so I can get the points and miles, but I have money set aside to pay it off as soon as the transaction posts to my account.
