I'm really trying to stay on a budget and so one of the biggest expenses i can cut is food. So the reception is past dinner and i'm informing guests to eat since its such a small wedding but what if i want to have something else....like smores or decorate your own cupcake bar??? i don't know it...

I would love some ideas and feedback on if this is a good idea or what to do.

@Mrs. Baby-B - LOL no she isn't that cheap. She will be doing a buffet style dinner and cupcakes instead of a bridal cake but will have a groom's cake. She is doing the sundae buffet for fun like some do a candy bar. And (in reference to the candy bar) no that isn't her favors Smiley smile

I did the math, if you trully have nine years until you marry then you could put away like $25 a month and you will have $2700 for food!

@Claire k.- There have been mmaaannnnnnnnnny "trolls" lately, new "fake" accounts that have been posting lately.. dates that are far, far away like 9 years is usually a trait of those fake accounts so that is why there is suspicion here, but don't take it personal if you are just being honest..

But in all honesty, your date is very far away, so if it is money that you are concerned about, I wouldn't cut the food altogether but find ways to save money instead like making your own decorations, finding a dress on sale or lightly used, or finding ways to save money by cutting down on eating out, bad habits, or whatever...

You can also save money by not offering a full dinner, but serving appetizers or small buffet (which is what I will be doing).

You can also cut back with your venue, either find a venue that includes a lot of items like tables, llinens and decor like a "value pack" or by using a state park where rental fees are dirt cheap and have beautiful scenery.

Cheese poofs? Walmart has big containers of cheese balls for about $4.97

Or wait till Christmas and stock up on those large tins of popcorn! At least then they would have a variety to pick from - butter, cheese or caramel.

How are you doing to do your smores? Are you going to have guests roast them over a small candle?

How about PB & J sandwiches? Is that in your budget? Cheez Its?

2020 is your wedding year --- you should be able to save to get everything you want and will need to make your wedding a very nice one and that includes having a REAL meal for your guests, lots of drinking, etc.

@Kristina B. You have me in here LMAO! I thought about the smores thing too. Thinking are they going to be camping?

How about ditch the cupcakes and get fruit cake all the left over fruit cake from Walmart during Christmas!
