I was about to be annoyed! I hate when people say their parents are supposed to pay for it. If you're not old enough/responsible enough to pay for your wedding on your own, then you shouldn't be having one. If your parents can help, you're lucky not entitled.

EDIT:And for the record, I didn't know this was a slam on any other ww person until just now. But I still stick to what I say.

I have been very fortunate that my dad paid for my dress and mom is helping with the flowers. Other than that....we have to decide what is important to us and pay for it ourselves.

LOL! I was JUST thinking "Oh no, not another one!" I understand some people come from a relatively spoiled background. That's ok. But it sure is gonna suck when they are cut off and reality hits them and hits them hard! We are paying for everything ourselves and don't expect anyone to pitch it. I did ask my dad if he was going to pitch in anything, but was not expecting him to say yes at all! I just asked to see if I needed to recalculate our budget. My parents are also going to pave a walkway in the garden for our ceremony that I did not ask for! That's going to run them a nice chunk of change! I told them to not worry about and a board to walk on would be fine! They are insisting and it makes me feel bad! But everything I have said is not making them change their minds. So I just have to except it! The only thing I am wanting from them, is their support, love, and presence!

Lol, you ladies are worse than my sisters. I've developed a thick skin growing up with them! I understand that it takes a while to be accepted into this group. I'm sorry if I seemed selfish, I'm used to venting to my friends even if it makes me sound bad.

I agree. I am getting money from my parents but I asked them not to tell me how much. I am planning and saving as if I am paying for it all. If my parents weren't helping I would NEVER complain. I told them not to pay for anything, but they insist! I am sure I will find some way to give it back to them, like the time my mom gave me $20 to pay for my breakfast and I snuck it back in her purse later.
