My Parents aren't giving me ANYTHING for my Wedding!!!

And that's okay because I'm a grown woman and I'm getting married, meaning I need to learn to financially support myself and my desires and not depend on mommy and daddy. This is real life, it isn't fair. Happy Easter!

If you make a post, many people around here will not sugar-coat things. If you're being selfish/unreasonable/hostile, we'll tell you. If you get upset about it, too bad, you asked for opinions and that's what you'll get. Just letting you know =]

JIll....I look forward to seeing your profile. It really doesn't take a while to get accepted on WW. I am a 50 year old bride posting with girls my daughter's age. They accept me....at least I think they do. : )

The only contribution I'm getting from my mom is her helping me choose a dress. She cannot afford to help me in any way. I am VERY fortunate that FH's family has helped out quite a bit. I am very thankful for that. Even with their help I am doing my best to keep this wedding on a very small budget. The important thing is I'm marrying the man of my dreams.

We have to remember that all of us come from very different backgrounds and situations. So while we may not understand where someone is coming from, I think there's a HUGE difference between "not sugar-coating" and being downright snarky.

It doesn't take a "while" to be accepted. You can either mesh with us, and sport your big girl panties, or you can cry in the corner. Either way, you won't get any sympathy.

I must also admit there is a sort of 'etiquette' in order to be accepted into the forums... main rule being that posting complaints constantly and immediately upon being new is discouraged. Want to be 'accepted' (although who cares if a bunch of idiots online like you or not)? Post discussions with more positive topics and reply on other threads offering honest advice. You can't really just 'jump' in here, you have to ease your way in. Just like in real life. You can't go up to a group of people and start complaining. They'll all look at you like 'wtf?'.

We are at the stage in our life where we wouldn't think of asking our parents to pay for things. We are well established and can provide for a nice wedding. His mom is insisting on paying for the rehearsal dinner, so we said fine. My mom is traveling from FL so we just want her to be here.

LOL Really? Saying that everyone is picking on you (WHEN I"M NOT) will get you nowhere. That's what everyone is trying to say. Add value to the conversation, instead of just whining.

Also; if you want to be part of the group, don't BITCH when people respond to your thread, that they are "flooding your inbox". YOU CHOSE TO POST.

I love ww. im on here everyday and try to be on here more then once. sometimes i don't get a ton of comments on my conversations but the ones i do get i love. I love these girls. yes some times they are honest, but i think that if your going to ask for opinions or even just post something expect for people to tell you what on their minds

as far as money im saving for the wedding and if people bless us with money then thats great. our parents have all agread to help us but im still saving as if im paying for it all myself just incase something happens and they cant help.(which happend already). i made an adult decision that if i want to get married i have to realize that im leaving my family and starting my own life. which means i have to pay for all my stuff. i love my ww girls!

Calling women on this forum 'bunch of idiots' will definitely NOT help you fit in!
