Might be rude to ask but how many CT's is your engagement ring? What is average?

FH and I are looking at e-rings together. The jeweler said about 3/4 Ct. Center stone is what most people get. What do you think? Also, feel free to post your e-ring pic. I know this blog has been done many times but I would like to see the pictures along with the sizes. Thanks Ladies!...

Mine is 1.01 round solitaire, also set low, and the wedding band is 1.25 carats of pave and prong set smaller diamonds. It's just perfect for me..but I gotta tell ya-originally I was one of those girls who preferred the 1.25-1.50 carats and I'm so glad that's not what DS picked out for me. This one gets enough attention and I would be afraid to lose it or attract more attention with it.

The average size is completely dependent on your location. I think, in most places of the States, around .5 of a carat is average. In larger cities (LA/NYC, etc), it would be more around the 1-1.25 carat mark, I think. I've actually seen the stats before, and am doing my best to remember. My centerstone is 2 carats, the total weight is right at 3 carats. I am a diamond fanatic (pricescope.com anyone?) and cut is king -- you don't want a cut that is too shallow, or too steep, or you'll lose precious light return. A poorly cut 1 carat diamond will always look smaller, and duller, than a well cut 3/4 carat diamond. Most people won't ever get the chance to see the difference though, because a well cut diamond is impossible to find in 90% of chain jewelry stores!

Wow,mine is so itty bitty compared to the others.

But honestly,it was my choice to have it so small and dainty.

I was raised without ANY jewelry being allowed because of our religion.

I also have never worn any rings and my ears aren't even peirced-like I said, this is my choice since I'm an adult.

When we went to look at rings,I just kept saying "oh,it's really pretty...but its too big" lol.

Then we found this one and I love it-it's petite and bea

My original ring was a 2.5 center stone, total weight of 3.5. But, after I accidentally wailed it into the counter a few times in a week and watched FH go pale and look like he was going to faint...we decided to go smaller, lol. Now I have a half carat solitaire which we will pair with 2 eternity bands, one above and one below.

I think the solitare that fmil gave us is 1.4 to 1/2 carat and very pretty... the band we want is another 1/2 carat in side stones... also very pretty... the wedding band is another 1/2 carat in side stones... that doesnt matter to me as much as my love for it... I am falling more and more in love with the pear shape!

Mine is 1 carat total weight princess cut. It is a 3 stone ring. 1/2 carat center stone with 1/4 carat on each side. I'm not positive of the 3c's but I know it is on the hight end, and my band is 1/2 alternating round and baquette diamonds. I know around my area 1/2 is the norm.

I have a 1.06 F color center stone and two side stones to bring it to 1.5 total. I think this is the right size for me.. originally I wanted a bigger solitaire but I ended up with a 3 stone ring that is bigger all around. Excellent cut, color and clarity are key. I LOVE the sparkle!

My wedding band is about 1/2 a carat with five diamonds across the top. Both are paltinum.

Mine is 1.7 Center- like the ladies said above- color/cut/clarity very important! My center looks bigger because of the halo of diamonds around it. The total of mine is a little over 2.2.

Btw, it's worth insuring your rings, ladies! I never take mine off, but it is a little loose (will be fixed soon). Plus I work in a hospital and put on/off gloves so it could come off. And it's Manhattan so a mugging is a remote possibility... you never know.

I added mine onto my homeowners insurance policy. THere is one company out there that will insure rings as a stand-alone policy. You will need the certificate that came with it with all the stats.

Mine is .75 ct solitaire with a cathedral setting. I bang mine on EVERYTHING. I really wanted at least a carat, but the ones the store had were not as "sparkly." LOL. DS doesn't believe in the whole "2 months salary" thing and I didn't even get a paycheck. But I don't even care anymore. It's just a thing. And I second Patricia on the insurance! I pay 1% of the total cost of the ring each year. I never take mine off, so if something happens to it, I just get a replacement and no deductible.
