What's your vote on parent dances? Keep or cancel?

Probably keeping. My wedding day is my late father's birthday, but I have a dear family friend who I consider to be my surrogate father. I would like to ask him to dance with me instead. My fiance's mom is still with us, and he would dance with her at the same time. The song will be "The Times of Your Life," by Paul Anka.

Keep. This is more for your parents than for you I think but I still feel it’s important for both parties.

If they wanna dance, let them dance! Were not planning on doing much dancing (if any!) But were going to have an open space with music playing so if someone wants to dance they can.

Keep! This is one of the few Traditional things I really want to keep. Which is weird, because I really don't like dancing... But my grandpa is walking me down the isle, and I really want that special moment in my memories.

We're doing a Mother-Son dance for my FH, and I'll be having a brother-sister dance. Unfortunately, I don't have a good relationship with my mother and she doesn't approve of my FH so she probably won't come to the wedding and my father passed away two years ago.

Keep, simply because I know how much it would mean to the parents.

Would love to keep but my father passed away when I was in high school and it feels almost awkward or just not right to have the dance with anyone else. FMIL is totally ok with not being the center of attention during a dance with FH, so we're scrapping the idea completely.

We'll have our first dance, haven't decided about others yet. We want to enjoy our reception!

Definitely keep. We both have good relationships with dad and mom, respectively. I've known since I was young that I want to dance to Isn't She Lovely by Stevie Wonder, but I'm curious to hear if my dad has something in mind.

Keep! I never had a wedding and am getting married later in life, so we are dancing with our children rather than parents. I am dancing with my son to "You've Got A Friend In Me" and my fiance will dance with his daughter to "The Rainbow Connection".

I'm dancing with my mom and my dad. Dancing is a huge part of my life. My husband-to-be does not want to dance with his family. It's too much pressure for them, and he is already stressed about our first dance.

I'm not entirely sure what we're doing yet, but I would love to keep this tradition. If not, I think I would be okay with it.. but I have been looking forward to my father/daughter dance for as long as I can remember. Not sure what the FH would like to do though, so it's all still up in the air!
