Is the cost of a bridal bouquet really this much?!

Tricia F., on April 4, 2011 at 11:07 AM Posted in Planning 0 67

My florist provided me with a breakdown of the cost of all the flowers/arrangements I'm ordering. My bouquet came out to $185.00... which unbelievably is the highest priced item on the list. Is this right? The bouquet consists of ivory colored roses, and a touch of blue delphinium & blue limonium. My bridesmaids have the same, just not as full of a bouquet as mine will be and theirs will be orange roses - the price is only $37.50!

Can someone please give me an idea of what your bridal bouquets are costing you and if you think this price is reflective of what I ordered?

I haven't actually picked my bouquet yet, but the florist told me that at their shop bridal bouquets average around $125 which is lower, but not a lot. However, the average bridesmaid bouquets she quoted me at $75.

    Hope this helps.

Not sure if the area you live in has anything to do with it. But mine is around $135 (I don't have my contract in front of me) and mine is all white roses. My BM's are around $55 - $60 and their flowers are grown locally but yet still expensive. Our flower bill is around $1600 for everything. IMO, that's really expensive but the florist I have is the best and my FMIL offered to pay so I'm not stressing too much. But still, flowers are expensive. Maybe that's why alot of the brides on WW make their own arrangements. : )

Thank you ladies :-) I needed something to compare it to and from what I gather, mine may be a little overpriced.

That's a little high from what I've heard other brides have paid in my area, I've heard of brides paying $150 for their bouquets in my town (which is a small country town in good ole Georgia lol) but in other areas like bigger cities I would guess that's average, and then it also depends on what flowers you choose, some flowers are more expensive than others. I've heard many ladies on here say that calla lilies and orchids are some of the most highly priced flowers.

Yeah, our wedding is also in FL, which can be really cheap compared to some of the other locations. Our flowers cost $400 for all bouts and corsages, and my bouquet. Everything else was inclusive in the venue Smiley smile

I live on the west coast of FL, in the Fort Myers/Cape Coral area. Truthfully, I've never been 100% about the florist we hired and have had 2nd thoughts a number of times and this just confirms my feelings.

@mellojean - I just looked at your photos and your bouquet is beautiful! It's somewhat similar to how I want mine to look with the exception of blue accent flowers instead of purple. I may re-consider and create my own, you can't beat the price!

That sounds a little high but not too far off from the norm which from what I priced out when looking for a florist in my area can be anywhere from 90-150 and up.

For my bouquet our florist quoted me 85 dollars for coffee break roses and eggplant calla lilies - but I asked her to do a smaller arrangement for me - I do not want to lug a heavy bouquet down the isle with me - I think the pricing really depends on what type of flowers you use and how many, the bigger the bouquet the higher the price.

For my girls - they are each carrying 3 pink long stem roses with some white waxy type little flowers (I can't for the life of me remember what they are called, instead of using baby's breath) and they will be tied with flowing brown ribbon for 15/each

If you think the price is too high I would talk to some other florists in your area for more quotes to get a better idea of the average price.

Ladies....My first wedding was in July of 1982. I paid $250 in 1982 for my bouquet(ivory roses, fresia, stephanotis and babys breath, with a matching wreath for my hair). Allegedly, they were at cost, since my ex BIL owns a chain of flower stores in our area. Be very careful with ivory roses. They don't have a lot of staying power. Perhaps technology has improved, but mine browned by the time I got to my reception. So, that was one hour in an unairconditioned church(Mass).

Mine is fake flowers - the nice ones that look real -- has large callas, and full roses, with autumn leaf accents. 8" round bouquet for $100. Also I'm in Texas. For the same bouquet from a local flower shop for real flowers was quoted at $170

Mine is going to be around $100 (can't remember the exact price) but I'm also using hot pink Gerber Daisies and Freesia. It's also going to be a fairly small bouquet.

My sisters, on the other hand, was $175 (can't remember the flowers she used) and all the BM's were under $50 with the same flowers.

Ours were $85 each for an arm bouquet with a dozen peach roses. However, the cost depends on three factors:

    • The type of flowers.

    • The number of flowers.

    • The labor in putting it together. For example, a wired bouquet tends to cost more than a hand-tied.

If you want to bring down the cost, you could talk to your florist about doing fewer flowers or a simpler arrangement.
