Is the cost of a bridal bouquet really this much?!

My florist provided me with a breakdown of the cost of all the flowers/arrangements I'm ordering. My bouquet came out to $185.00... which unbelievably is the highest priced item on the list. Is this right? The bouquet consists of ivory colored roses, and a touch of blue delphinium & blue limonium....

My bridesmaids have the same, just not as full of a bouquet as mine will be and theirs will be orange roses - the price is only $37.50!

Can someone please give me an idea of what your bridal bouquets are costing you and if you think this price is reflective of what I ordered?

I ordered mine from an online wholesaler and it is $30.00. A simple arrangement of white roses and greenery.

Mine will be all white/ivory colored peonies & with just a few roses (maybe orchids) for $165. Not sure if i'm getting ripped off, but the quote for ALL the flowers seemed decent to me + I love love love her, she is amazing & sooo sweet!

My sister and her friend (who is a florist) did my all of the flowers for my daughters wedding as my sisters wedding gift. They did, however, provide us with a contract showing all of the prices, so the couple could truly see what the cost would have been to her Dad and me.

The brides bouquet (which consisted of roses, calla lilies, orchids and a few other flowers) was $150. The bridesmaids bouquets were $60 each (calla lilies).

I'm guessing these our real flowers. I got mine at www.thebridesbouquet.com. They are silk flowers. They have a large selection of all types and sizes.

Another thing to remember, there will be a range of prices, depending on the florist. Some are more experienced than others, some are in areas where their costs are higher. Some are also more professional with the way that they handle flowers. Lower costs may mean someone who will not take the proper care needed for the type(s) of flower(s) needed.

Also, and I hate to remind everyone, but florist also need to make a living off of the flowers they sell.

Another thing to think of, many ladies have said that they are making their own, reducing costs. This is true, but one should factor in their time. How many hours will you spend on your arrangements. Then factor in an hourly wage. Even though you are not paying yourself an hourly wage, you should think about that cost.

@Ms. L - I can't make out what type of flowers they are, with the exception of the roses but it's a beautiful bouquet and at a great price!

So when making your own (for those of you that posted) - - - - - any advice?? I'm the only one carrying flowers as I don't have any BM's so it's just me and the groom. We're getting married in Nags Head. I feel like paying so much for just me is a little crazy.

Anyone make their own out of real flowers that they just picked out from the flourist???

I made my moms for her. She got married at this little bed and breakfast that had "bouquets". But when they time came they were cheap looking old dirty fake flowers, so I ran to WalMart (lol) and picked up some flowers and roses and threw hers together in 10 minutes. It's really not hard to do.

Wow, I feel like I am getting a bargain. My main flower is ivory roses and it's a cascading bouquet. It's $125. However, the florist is a very close friend of his mom's.

You have to take into account the shape of the bouquet, as well as the size, and type of flowers you are using. Are they in season, are the local, if not that adds to the cost.

My bouquet was originaly $115 but I didn't want it that big so they are using less flowers. That brought it down to $100. I will have a round bouquet of all roses (two sizes) in pinks, yellows, and oranges.

My mom, maid of honor, and I made my bouquet and purchased flowers from Hobby Lobby. It was $45 dollars for my bouquet, the ribbon for all bouquets, and the sparkling accents for all the bouquets. So, that was definitely the cheapest way to go for us and they are gorgeous! The pictures aren't the final versions but are very close!

I bought my flowers wholesale at a flower district downtown and arranged myself.

total cost: $22 for FRESH flower bouquet
    - 5 stems hydrangeas
    - 18 large roses
    - 12 ranunculus

if you dont live near a flower market (they wholesale flowers to local flower shops where ppl normally order bridal bouquets anyways) costco.com sells popular wedding flowers for very cheap AND free shipping! they have callas, roses, hydrangeas and more

and even if youre not very DYI, there are TONS of videos online that can teach you how to make a bridal bouquet

    You sound like I did!!

A friend of mine used a planner and people kept suggesting them to me, but I thought they were insane because my budget was so small! So here I was going nuts, trying to work with this crazy budget not knowing where to start. Little did I know the planners actually saved me money. They know the ins and outs, know what u can get for your $, etc. They're different in that they made all their decor so you're not paying them to call the florist or invitation place, they do it them self!! They're work is beautiful and sooo cost effective!!

Feel free to call them. They travel and virtual plan, the only thing they don't do are destination wedding planning.
