"I'll be there with bells on" on rsvp card...nobody gets it :(

My rsvp card has three options for the guests: __Will be there with bells on __Will be there, no bells __Will not attend, has bell phobia, sends regrets. I'm finding that my friends and our siblings don't get the idiom of "I'll be there with bells on". Do I just have weird friends/family or is it...

I'm finding that my friends and our siblings don't get the idiom of "I'll be there with bells on". Do I just have weird friends/family or is it just not used as much as I thought nowadays? I'm kinda bummed because I was excited about it being silly and now nobody's getting the joke... *sigh*

FMF it's from the saying "I'll be there with bells on my fingers and rings on my toes." It's meant to convey excitement and enthusiasm.

I thought it was super and had seriously considered using that one or the one that Shellie suggested, but opted for something more Halloweenie.

I love it. I would circle the first one and cross out bells for cymbals.

I totally feel you. We wanted to do

__ Wouldn't Miss it for the World

__ Will be toasting from afar.

No one understood than will be toasting from afar means decline. So we ended up changing it to, Will be toasting from afar; We decline with regret. *sighs* I gave in on this one. I totally get yours!

I get it and love it! I thought "With bells on" was a common phrase people were familiar with. Sorry your people aren't getting. I think it is super clever on your part!!!

Ride a white horse to Banbury(?) Cross,

To see a fine lady upon a white horse.

With rings on her fingers & bells on her toes,

She shall have music wherever she goes.

Grandma used to recite it while bouncing us on her foot. No wonder she ended up with arthritis in her knees!

I think it's very cute, and I would have gotten a chuckle out of it had I received it. I don't know how common it is to use such a phrase today, and I'm thinking the younger crowd might not "get it." I'm sure your older guests enjoyed it.

I totally get it and think it's cute, but some people don't even "get" standard RSVP card language Smiley smile

I used the same RSVP card responses but most of my guests have gotten it and thought it was cute. Some cards have had family members respond with different options too (some with bells and some without). Smiley smile Sorry your guests aren't getting it!
