I need to express my frustration ABOUT MY PRO PHOTOS

From Mi to Mo, on June 16, 2015 at 9:39 PM Posted in Community Conversations 1 85

Ok, so I've know for over a week that there are a good amount of pictures our photographer didn't take that I had on my VERY specific list. Yes, there were 95 pictures on there (We got almost 400 from him, he really could have taken them all). Yes, I know you get what you pay for BUT he could have paid attention to the list. Well, today I FINALLY decided to look at said list and see EXACTLY how many he didn't take. OVER HALF WERE NOT TAKEN!!! I am so upset! Out of 95 photos that I wanted 38 were taken....38!!!!!!! I am so beyond upset, I want to cry. And some of them are actually pretty important. I know they are just pictures but, as a person who has dealt with a lot of loss in life, I live off of photos. I just....ugh!

(ETA: Spelling because I am upset)

Wait wait wait. I didn't know you had problems with your photos. What was on this list of 95? Like b&g&c'mon (ie family photos)?

At some point don't you trust your photographer? I'm confused.

Wait....95?!? I just met with my photographer and she said she usually gets lists of 10-25 must-have photos from brides. 95 seems crazy. Of the 10-25 of the persons list she tries to take them all but they don't always come out great, and in that case, they do not get included in the final product photos. Sorry...95 is a huge number of must-have photos. I think your photographer did a damn good job even getting 38 of them.

    95?! My list was like:

    1. Me and hubs by the fountain

    2. Me and hubs by the big tree

    3. Us with the bridal party / separates with the bp

    4. Us with his family

    5. Us with my family

Thanks Janeen. That's what I was thinking! How do you even come up with 95 things?? I would have to start now!

95? Really? I get wanting some specific shots but at that point that's controlling any kind of artistic ability of the photographer. He would have spent all his time with you just trying to get the shots you "wanted". You didn't remember which ones he didn't get till you looked at the list. How important could they have been

I agree with Sarah Marie. I was worried because our photographer is so affordable, but I honestly don't plan on giving her a shot list at all. We had zero issues on our engagement shoot day, and she explained how she and the second shooter work on the wedding day. Requiring 95 shots seems like overkill.

Not to sound insensitive...but a list of 95 must have photos is completely unreasonable. I am married so I can say that with no guilt as in you can't say I will feel differently if it was my day.

Did you have a DOC helping the photographer to gather the necessary people together? Was everyone just standing around waiting to get their photo taken or were they mingling, drinking, etc? Just like the phrase "No one cares about your wedding as much as you do", I think the phrase "No one cares about being in your wedding pictures as much as you do" might apply here. I agree that it's great he got 38 done.

That's a big list. How much time did you give your photographer to knock these out? Can you give us some examples of some that could have easily been done, but weren't? I had a list of about 20 specific shots I wanted.

If it was a list of different family orientation, it would be very difficult for a photographer to gather everyone unless the photographer is not a stranger. Advice for future brides (this was given to me by my photographer), have a designated reliable family member line up family members for photos. It will speed things along...

Wow... FH and I were talking about the shots we wanted and we came up with about 15... and even that was tough!

Did you talk to your photographer before hand and provide the list? How long did you have for photos?

He absolutely should have gotten the portraits, especially if everyone is there and waiting. Those shots are usually "boom boom boom". The weird posed ones though? Mehhhh

Yeah I'm surprised he didn't get all of those portraits. We got all of those, but I didn't have any "silly" shots on my list. I knew those weren't my photographer's style.

Did you only have one photographer? I had two. One was with the guys while getting ready (the time when she got all of the groom and groomsmen shots), and one with me. The hour between the ceremony and reception was then used for entire bridal party shots and shots with just him and I.
