I may have to work on my wedding day

I was approved to take my vacation time in December for the wedding. Well we are very short staffed and our third shift staff quit. No notice. So my supervisor calls to tell me the days I took off in December will probably not be covered. I work every day. I haven't had a day off since gosh I don't...

I agree with reaching out to hr. Because I would be looking for a new job. Sorry she is being a problem about it.

@Sarah I've been here almost 2 years and FH best day ever would be the day I quit or got fired lol. I love my clients but so sick of this company.

This is ridiculous that they are making you work for your own wedding. I am,sorry that this is happening. Definitely talk to HR and try to aork out a solution to this.

I'd also go to HR on this instead of just accepting what your supervisor has told you. It sounds like other people have managed to get time off despite all of this.

@ChristinaNYC it is in writing. I even have mutiple texts verifying who would be working it.

22 hour days has to be some type of Osha or legal violation.

Honestly I'd be looking for another job.

Will you get fired for no call no showing?

If I were to work that day I would be getting off work at 8am that morning from working 18 hours before and then Saturday the 10th I would be going in at 8pm that night. That is if no one will work. Wedding is at 4 and FH and I are staying at the bed and breakfast the night of wedding since we aren't taking our honeymoon until March. But still that's our wedding night!

I'd 100% tell them that they could honour their leave approval, or take my notice. Call them out! It's your freakin wedding day!

I'd call not only HR but the state labor dept.

There is a violation there somewhere and might be some type of civil issue since they approved your time off.

@Judi that's what FH says also but when I've mentioned it to supervisor all that's said is "as long as it isn't 24 hours" yes I'm liking the OT because it's what has helped with the wedding but dang.

That is heartless. I don't even have any advice, but that's so messed up.

I would tell them hell no and if they threaten to fire you, start looking for something else...you already have money invested into your wedding...

She said she will get back with me at the end of this week to tell me for sure if I will have it off or not. I am so anxious and furious.

Where I live, it is a legal requirement that you MUST have 10hrs between shifts. Surely there is some kind of guideline where you live? This doesn't sound legal. I wouldn't be taking their word for it either!

Don't be anxious! Don't let them have this over you, this is your wedding day. If they re-approve it, great! If they don't, give them your notice and start job searching!

ETA: Tbh, I'd start looking elsewhere anyway.

Just get written up. I know it's not ideal, but if it's that or miss your wedding night, I know which I'd pick especially this close.
