I hate the date we set

thyia, on September 11, 2017 at 1:52 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 141

I am so excited but I don't like the date we set. would it be weird to ask fiancé to have our anniversary on a different date, maybe we could turn in marriage license together on a different date? we already have a nonrefundable deposit put down so there is not much we can do about ceremony date.. thanks for your suggestions/comments!

Is there a reason you don't like the date?

What's wrong with the date?? I don't think you can manipulate the date on the certificate. You have to put your wedding date on it. Your officiant most likely won't sign it with a different date.

I also realized my date is May 5, I set my date on cinco de Mayo. I already signed my contract for Venue. And save dates were already printed twice.

    It's a date. What's wrong with it?

Try to contact the venue and see if you can move the date without losing the deposit

Well the date as you have it isn't globally offensive or anything. Why don't you like it? Why did you choose that date?

You can't just "turn in [dic] marriage license...on a different date." The day you get married is your anniversary. Your officiant will fill in the date.

How can you "hate" a particular calendar date?

Is it the anniversary of a bad memory or something? In that case, I would just see if your venue can change the date itself. That's the only way to truly have a different anniversary.

It's not like a homework assignment where the day you turn it in matters (unless there's a time limit you have to turn it in before it's invalid). The date gets written on the certificate by the officiant and lying about the date on there is a big no-no for self-respecting professionals.

You can celebrate whatever anniversary you choose, I don't see the big deal here about hating a certain date.

The day your pronounced is the day your license is dated. In NJ, I have five days to turn it in, but the day of the wedding is still the date.

    What's the deal?

The only date that I wouldn't consider getting married personally is September 11th actually. I can't seem to think of another "date" that universally has bad memories attached.

    OP can you elaborate?

You can celebrate your relationship any day or weekend you want going forward. You can completely ignore your anniversary date if you choose. You can make the rules. I think we will always celebrate our dating anniversary because is has been a great excuse to go out to a good dinner and have a cute night together.

8/25 is my parents' anniversary. Worked for them for 27 years and counting!

What's wrong with that date? And if you hate it so much, why did you book it in the first place?

Actually, I chose September for numerous reasons, and one of them is to have something positive in that month for me.

It's a historically bad month for me with seasonal depression. The 6th is the anniversary of my first boyfriend and his friend dying in 2004.

Plus 9/11, though that doesn't have as much personal impact, it's still thought of every year and it's the date of the boyfriends funeral.
