How to plan a Wedding Reception

Mery, on August 25, 2019 at 8:52 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 6
Hey there! 😊

I’m sure I’m not alone with the anxiety that comes with planning a wedding, but I just wanted to come here and look for some support/advice. I am an extreme introvert, so we will not be having a ceremony. We are planning on going to the courthouse in the morning and getting married with only our mothers present (both of our fathers have passed). In the evening, we plan on having a wedding reception of about 50 people. We have hired a DJ to make sure people are entertained and dancing.

I am dreading the whole idea of being presented while we walk in and have a bride and groom dance... Is that crazy? Is it okay if we don’t do that? Otherwise - would it be awkward? I want everyone to have a good time & love the event, but I don’t know how else we could walk in without us having to dance for 3-4 minutes... Any ideas?

I’ve NEVER planned any kind of event before, so I might be stressing more than I need to, but I can’t help it! At times, I am ready to tell my fiancé “let’s run away together and let them have the party!” LOL - it may not be a big deal - but it is feeling like one at the moment!

I appreciate all of your feedback!! ♥️

You can skip the introduction all together or be introduced without a first dance. You’re the newlyweds, you get to do whatever you want!

It is all up to you! I would suggest maybe getting introduced and skipping the dance! Shuffling in without an intro might be slightly more awkward, but I think no first dance might go unnoticed!

Reception intros? Countless people skip them. Don't do something if you are uncomfortable and let your vendors know. A first dance is also optional but you can cut it down to 1 minute.
