How to get a wedding dress for under $200?

Katie, on October 12, 2010 at 11:00 PM Posted in Planning 0 21

We are kind of on a low budget so my dress fund is kind of low. Where might I find a cheaper dress online?

Craigslist, amazon, ebay, look at wedding shops too, sometimes they have last season dresses, even though nobody knows what season they are from. Also some places are willing to work with you and do a layaway type thing. Look at prom dresses, some can work for a wedding dress. Not sure of the style you are going for but I know my local CL has lots of dresses in a range of sizes so you can start there and look for other close area CL too.

Also, consider getting a bridesmaid's dress in white or ivory.

I second that you can get a great looking bridesmaid dress at Alfred angelo for way under 200 they make them in white or ivory and you won't have to compromise the quality of fabric I almost ordered a 2nd dress wedding dress there because I loved my bridesmaids dresses but my friends convinced me out of it

I got my dress at David's Bridal during the 99 dollar sale. For 99 bucks. I loved it. Alterations can be done for fairly cheap if you go local.

Go local and get referrals, a seamstress out of her house is MUCH cheaper than having the alterations done at a store. But reserve about $50 for basic alterations.

I found a replica dress for $150 on www.milanoo.com. I highly recommend that if you do order one online, you first go try on the same dress or style and see how it works for you.

I agree with the people saying David's Bridal. They have some gorgeous dresses in their online collection for under $200, several are even closer to $100.

I got mine on ebay for $124 total. I love it but may not be as picky as some. I also ordered an empire waist as I already knew would work on my body

Local consignment shops. Our local hospital even has an auxiliary shop. My MIL got her dress (full blown dress) for $25 there.

Definitely go local for alterations. Mine only cost 70 dollars and I had a lot done. The alteration place the bridal salon recommended estimated costs at $200.

After trying on dress after dress and hating the price tags, I went searching online and ordered my dress from WWW.Fashioninthebox.com. I sent them my measurements and my dress was delivered in 5 weeks. The only fall back was having SOO MANY dresses to choose from. For what I paid $195 including shipping, was going to cost me at least $500. At least this is the amount the consignment shop has already offered me if I no longer "need it" after the wedding.

I'm not sure where you live but the annual running of the brides sale twice a year works
