How often do you get ring cleaned?

MzRosaLu, on June 19, 2015 at 5:30 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 38

FH mentioned to me that the jeweler recommended I bring my e-ring in every 6 months to get cleaned and inspected. Is this standard? Just wondering - how often do you have your ring cleaned? And do you go to the jeweler or clean it on your own? If so, what do you use?

Oh I didn't even think this might be related to the warranty. Will have to read the fine print. I thought it was just a recommendation.

I bought an ultra sonic cleaner on amazon for like $40 so I clean it about once a week. It's an emerald cut and the flat table on top shows fingerprints or anything like crazy. I plan to get it inspected at least once a year and professional cleaned then too.

Yeah, mine is under warranty as long as I get it inspected/cleaned every 6 months.

I'm planning to have mine professionally cleaned right before the wedding, but I'm a crafting nerd and a geocacher, so fact is, my ring is always going to be at least a little dirty.

My ring has to be brought in for an inspection and cleaning every 6 months for the insurance plan to be valid

Hm, I've had mine for over a year and a half and I've never had it inspected (I don't think there's a warranty). If I don't have a warranty, do I need to get it inspected??

I have the cleaning solution from Ben Moss (had it previously for other jewelry), so I just clean it myself every few months (4 to 6 months).

ETA: I also have no issues with insurance, it falls under my house insurance and there's no special clauses.

Most jewelry stores require you to have it inspected every 6 months. If you don't and something happens the warranty is void.

The first thing FH told me after he put the ring on my finger was that I have to take it to the jewelry store every 6 months to get it inspected in order to keep the warranty intact. I have yet to actually have it cleaned.

The jeweler we got FI's ring from emails me when it's time to get her ring cleaned and inspected every six months. Usually they just take the ring to the back, dip it in some kind of cleaning solution, and when they give it back like 2-3 minutes later it's suddenly much sparklier. They've mentioned that the rhodium coating may need maintenance every year or two, and that takes a few days, but she's had the ring for... a little over a year now? and they haven't had to do it yet.

Like some of the other girls have said, I also go every 6 months to get my set cleaned and inspected in order to keep the warranty.

Yes, that's standard and you should do it or you may void the warrantee! I clean my ring before any important occasion or about once a month at home. FH bought it from a local jeweler, they don't have the "every 6 months inspection" thing that most of the jewelry store chains have. I will definitely be getting it professionally cleaned before the wedding!

Two of my friends go in every 6 months for theirs and I know at least one of them was told the stone was loose at the cleaning so they fixed that. It made me paranoid about the stones in mine becoming loose... since we bought mine online there is no warranty but I think I might take it in to a jeweler after 6 months just to have it cleaned and checked.

I have ring cleaner that I use at home whenever it starts to get a little dirty. Although, it always looks so good when it gets cleaned by a jeweler. . . Taking it in would be good every once in a while is still a good idea though. But every 6 months might be a bit excessive unless you know you're hard on your jewelry.

I have to bring it in every 6 months too. My FH had my ring 11 months before he proposed, so a week after I had to go get it fitted (give it up for 5 days) thats when they told me to bring it back every 6 months. I think the beginning of July its time. I have some ring cleaner at FH's place (we live together now... lol.... so I guess our place) but its always been there and I drop it in and clean it off everytime I go over there which is about 2 or 3 times a week.

I bring it in every 6 months. My jeweler includes that service in the cost of the ring so I take them up on it. They not only clean it, they check the settings and make sure the quality is still at it's peak.

Any time I'm at the mall, I drop by to have them clean it up. I just like how sparkly it is after!

FH bought mine at an antique store, so I'm not sure how to go about getting it cleaned. Can I just go to any jewelry store and ask them to clean it?

Yup every 6 months. If you have the warranty on it most places require every 6 Months to get it inspected and then they clean it. If I'm just in a mall and a store isn't busy I might ask them to clean it any random times.
