Joe and I first became friends back in 2004 when we met via an online RPG that we were both playing. We chatted online and on the phone off and on for years, but never met in person until 2009. I started to fall for him from that first meeting, but he was already in a relationship, so I didn't say anything till after they called it quits. Still, even after acknowledging that we both had an interest, we were wary of entering a long-distance relationship - he was from Springfield, MO and I was from Erie, PA, and we had both struggled through LDRs in the past. I went to visit him in 2011, and after spending the week together, we decided to give things a shot despite the miles between us. The day before my 30th birthday, Joe was with me in Rehoboth Beach, DE. We were spending the weekend with my former college roommates, and he was meeting them, as well as my family, for the first time that week. That day, he asked me to take a walk with him since we hadn't really gotten any alone time since his arrival. As we strolled, he pointed out how beautiful this tree was. I turned to look at it, and when I turned back around, he was on one knee!
