How often do you get ring cleaned?

MzRosaLu, on June 19, 2015 at 5:30 PM

FH mentioned to me that the jeweler recommended I bring my e-ring in every 6 months to get cleaned and inspected. Is this standard? Just wondering - how often do you have your ring cleaned? And do you go to the jeweler or clean it on your own? If so, what do you use?

Every 6 months I take mine to the jeweler for warranty purposes.

Every six months to maintain the warranty. I wish it was more often. I just dropped it off yesterday for the first time and I am loving how sparkly it is right now!

Ok, 6 months seems pretty standard. I feel like a ditz for not knowing this was tied to the insurance. Guess I should have asked FH lol. Thanks for the responses!

6 months for warranty but I stop in more offer for free professional cleaning. I also have a liquid cleaner and polishing cloth. I use the liquid once a week and the cloth daily.

Even without warranty stuff you should be getting it cleaned every 6 months if not more.

Edit: for the record, a lot of jewelry stores do not offer insurance on their rings and having it cleaned usually doesn't have anything to do with that. You should have it cleaned because A) there is a ridiculous amount of gross stuff that gets stuck under your stones..,everything you touch. B) when it gets cleaned the associate should be checking your ring. That way even if you have no warranty you are able to fix a problem before it because a big issue...like stones falling out... And finally C) your ring will look a million times better when it's cleaned frequently n

I've had mine 7 months now, purchased online (BlueNile) and not insured (oops) so I've yet to get it cleaned since I got it. Oops.

I get mine cleaned every time I go by the store. Its about 45 minutes away so when I go I get it cleaned. Also, I will clean it in between with warm water and dawn dish soap. My ring gets really dirty really fast!

Every 6 months (or so) they note that they have inspected it on a card I keep

I clean my ring often. Usually if I'm near a Jared's, I'll just go in and get it cleaned.

About every 1-2 months, but that's usually just when Im in the vicinity of my jeweler I don't go out of my way. Imlove when it's super sparkly though so I hate going too long.

Every time I wash the dishes or my hair! Smiley sexy Or, more seriously, my ring came with a guarantee that if I take it back and get it checked/cleaned every six months, they'll guarantee the setting. I'd it's been 8 years since I last had it professionally cleaned and checked!

For my life time warranty to stay in effect I have to not only go in and get it inspected but they have to mark it as such. As for the cleaning if they are not busy when I am at the mall I get it cleaned. Also doing it this way they catch anything that might of happened between the full inspection.

Like many said, in order to maintain the warranty, I have to take it in and get it cleaned and inspected every 6 months. Part of the "care package"/warranty clause is that it needs to be inspected. They will check for lose prongs and stones and if something is lose or wrong, they will tighten it. I have a double halo so if a supporting diamond is missing (if it's been inspected and cleaned every 6 months prior) they will replace the diamond for an equal or better quality stone.
