How much did you ladies spend on your wedding dress if you dont mind me asking and how much do you think is too much I spent $2000 with alterations.

I'm kind of impressed with the prices in here! My dress was about 1100 and it fits perfectly, so no alterations!

$261 and $100 for alterations. I was referred to a seamstress who works out of her home and she altered my dress - she hemmed it, took in the bust, waist, and hips, and added bustles for only $100. I found my Maggie Sottero on clearance at a local bridal shop for $261.

My mother gave my a dress budget of $3000... very generous and about 3 times as much as if I were paying for it myself. First born getting married for the first time in this generation of family, and FH and I are paying for the wedding ourselves, so this is my parents contribution.

My dress costs around $1500, and hopefully alterations won't be too much. I've kind of fallen for a $200 veil, since it's the exact same gold shade as my dress, and most veils are ivory or white. Any remaining budget from the $3000 I can use to help my bridesmaids with dresses or undergarments or accessories, etc...

It's all about your comfort level and what your budget can afford!

Actually, the tools to make my dress cost more than the actual dress will:

    Dress Form: $120

    Muslin fabric for practiceSmiley shame50

Wedding dress I bought for "parts"-$7

beads, pearls, boning, interfacing, thread, etc probably another $50

    I got mine from AA

Orginially it was $800 but they had a sale at the time I bought it for $100 off so I got my dress for $700. It was a bit over budget. I was looking more for something in the $500 range.

Mine was being discontinued so I got it for 99 at DB, plus slip and alterations was about 220..But ya It depends on what you can afford /budget..however even if I made a ton of money I'd never spend more than 1k on a dress; I'd rather put that towards a honeymoon.

Don't have mine yet, but I set myself a budget of no more then $600 with alterations, I hope I can stick with my budget LOL...I think every bride, looks beautiful no matter the price of the dress, and if spending a lot on your dress, make you happy, then go for it, it's your day,, Smiley smile

Mine was $1200, the only alterations I'll need are hemming and bustle, so not expecting too much from that, I bought a cheap dress, but some decent jewelry, so total attire I anticipate to be around $1600.
