How much did your caterer cost?

kscha925, on March 11, 2013 at 6:05 PM Posted in Planning 0 61

And what did you get with it???

I think we are getting a pretty decent deal for what we are getting...but I'm curious.

We had to hire our caterer separate from our venue. For food alone, we paid $35 per head. That price was just food.

My daughter's venue was a package. We paid $140 per plate for cocktail hour with passed horsies and made to order stations; 5 hours of premium booze; a four course meal choice of filet mignon or flounder stuffed with crab imperial; a dessert buffet; a cake of her choice; all centerpieces, etc. We def got what we paid for. She did have to pay a little extra per person because she wanted a certain ballroom and her guest list did not meet their minimum.

Yes I think it is a great deal!! It's a local restaurant that has been around for 30+ years. Out reception is actually in a cave and they've catered events there many times before. I'm really glad I found someone I know will be prepared for the circumstances so I don't have to be stressed on the day of!

-Ceremony and reception set up/break down

-All tables, chairs, linens, glassware, etc.

-5 hours unlimited beer & wine, soft drinks, coffee, and tea

    -Champagne toast

-Cocktail hour with 6 passed apps and 5 stations

-Dinner, we chose a buffet that includes: soup or salad starter, 3 entree choices, 1 meat carving station, and 2 side dish choices

Ours is $70 a person but that's with everything included.. Hors'dourves, rolls with butter, salad, main entre, drinks, champagne toast, our wedding cake.. Plus it includes room fees, bartender fees, service charge( gratuity) and taxes.. If I break it down its like $51 a person just for food and drinks and the rest would be for the other fees.

Mrs. J - That sounds great! And that's a good price for 125. Ours is around the same price, but for 85 people.

Nikknack - That sounds like my type of food!

I think it's going to be about $34 per person for drinks food. Almost 2k with tax, alcohol tax, and all that jazz.

That includes beer, wine, appetizers, 2 main dishes, salad, and sides. The cake will be about an additional $3 pp, I think. None of our food is finalized yet and we don't know the guest count.

It all depends upon your venue, the menu and (I cannot think of a rhyme for venue and menu. LOL)

My daughters wedding and reception were held at a hotel. So, the food was a part of the overall expense and the room fees, bartender fees, corkage fees and such were waived.

I live in a state with no sales tax, so that did not play in to the cost. We ended up paying about $36 per person for appetizers and dinner. I provided the wine (I am in the wine business). We had 134 guests.

My ex, his wife (i call her my wife-in-law) and I split the cost of the entire wedding. Thankfully, I am great at putting on events, have many contacts and had friends give us great deals.
